0.44.1 is up, and the speedrun leaderboards are live.

Thank you to everyone who has been grinding the speedrun mode and posting times in the discord. This patch is the thing you kept asking for: real online boards. (also you can pet the kittens now.)

New stuff

  • ONLINE LEADERBOARDS! Speedrun finishes now submit to Steam leaderboards. There is a LEADERBOARD panel on the main menu with GLOBAL and FRIENDS views, a category stepper, the top ten, and your own row.

  • Two boards per category: a rolled seed goes on the regular board, a typed seed goes on the SET SEED board.

  • Every run goes through a validation server before it lands on a board. World records and new top 3 times get posted automatically to the Octbuster discord with splits and pace.

  • New fan art added!

Speedrun mode changes

  • The genre grouping dial is locked to the default while the speedrun toggle is on.

  • Speedruns always start with tutorials off. The TUTORIALS ON/OFF question on the loading screen is gone.

  • The New Store screen now tells you whether the run you dialed in is a leaderboard run, a set seed run, or local best only, and why.

  • The speedrun overlay got a header strip, SPLIT / DELTA / TIME column headers, and a footer that says which board the run is headed for.

  • You get a toast when the server answers: WORLD RECORD, "on the board at #N", or the reason it was refused.

  • Finished a run while Steam was offline? The leaderboard panel shows how many runs are waiting to submit, and they go up when Steam is back.

  • Gamepad now works on the speedrun category picker at the loading screen.

  • Playtest times also show up on the demo's boards, so nobody has to re-run when the demo goes public.

  • Console: "speedrun resetpb" clears your local personal bests.

Fixes

  • Googly eye pupils now come to rest in the same spot no matter your framerate, and a settled pupil stays settled instead of buzzing.

  • A kitten sitting behind a shelf can no longer be hovered through the shelf, so it won't steal the grab meant for the tape in front of it.
