An update on Linux support in CROSS PRODUCT

With the release of Season 10: Uplink tomorrow, native Linux client support CROSS PRODUCT will officially come to an end for the time being.

Due to internal developments made surrounding the game and its codebases, we are no longer able to maintain and test a separate native Linux version of the client to the standard we expect. From Season 10 (v2.10) onwards, the Windows version running through Proton will become the supported method of playing CROSS PRODUCT [MULTIPLAYER] on Linux-based systems.

This change will not affect dedicated servers. Linux-based servers will continue to be supported natively, so existing operators will be able to update and continue hosting without disruption.

Players using Linux, SteamOS, Steam Deck, or Steam Machine, will also still be able to play the game; Season 10 has been tested using Proton 10 and will be the official setup. We, internally, have not encountered compatibility or performance issues, though minor viewmodel texture glitches may occur on rare occasions.

No configuration changes should be required; once Season 10: Uplink is available tomorrow, Steam should automatically select the correct Proton configuration and launch parameters for affected systems.

Although native Linux support is ending for now, this is not necessarily a permanent decision; should it be realistic for us to properly support a native Linux build in the future, we are open to bringing it back. For the time being though, focusing on a single client is the most practical for us.

We remain committed to ensuring that our titles continue to be fully playable across Linux-based devices through Proton, while preserving native Linux .so binaries for dedicated servers.

Season 10: Uplink launches tomorrow, July 24 - see our other articles for details

The Open Beta has also been deactivated.

Thank you for your understanding, and please accept our apologies should these changes cause any inconvenience.
