Version 0.4.0 is here, and it is the biggest update since the demo launched! ːlunar2020confidentroosterː
This update brings a whole new mode with its own leaderboard, puts a real weapon in every waifu's hands, and adds a lot of visual improvements to make the battles feel more alive. Let's go to the changes!
New mode: Ladder
Best of 5 series worth Points. Your results affect your score.
Your opponent does not come from a list. It is generated dynamically, adapting to the player.
The higher you climb, the harder the matches get.
Your first series are placement series. Your Points show a * next to them while they are still being calibrated.
The mode has its own Steam leaderboard, where you can compete with other players for a spot.
Weapons:
Every waifu now carries an actual weapon instead of swinging her bare hands around.
Ranged waifus aim their weapon at their target.
When a waifu goes down, her weapon detaches and tumbles across the field.
Karin's skill got new visuals to go with her new weapon.
The battlefield has a lot more life to it:
Waifus breathe while idle, wind up and lunge into their melee swings, kick back when they shoot, recoil away from wherever the hit came from, and tremble while casting.
Waifus blink now! ːsteamhappyː
And there is a secret: a strong enough knockout can end with someone hitting the camera.
Tutorial and first steps:
The Campaign's Tutorial section is now 2 phases instead of 7: one straight fight, then a full best of 5.
The main menu now points new players at the next thing to do. The tutorial first, then Ladder.
Balance:
Every blow a waifu takes now reduces in 0.1s her skill cooldown.
Auto attack range increased for every melee waifu. They now connect from about where a real weapon would reach, instead of standing on top of their target.
Lia and Linda: 60 → 115
Mari: 60 → 100
Yara: 80 → 95
Karin:
Attack damage: 11 → 14
Attack knockback: 400 → 250
Skill knockback: 600 → 750
Skill damage: 10 → 12, but the pierce falloff floor went from 40% to 25%.
Vania:
Attack damage: 13 → 12
Skill damage: 20 → 16.
Linda:
Fixed a bug where Linda's charged strike could stay active even after its activation window had closed.
Challenges:
The whole challenge pool was regenerated from the new balance, so the formations you face in Challenge and The Arena are all brand new.
That's it for now folks. I put a lot of work into these last few days trying to make the game feel more polished. I hope it paid off. See you in the next update! :3
