Patch 2.5
September 2, 2026

New & Updated Features

  • Ranked Mode 1.0
  • Main Menu allows you to open up the Newsletter again with a button callout!
  • Training mode can now have block mode set to "Flow". (More coming!)

New & Updated Content

  • New Newsletter: Ranked Mode 1.0 edition
  • New PAX West Aang Color Drop
  • Updated Move: Zaheer’s Final Technique - Ghazan animates differently rather than going straight up.
  • Ozai gained more animation frames for a variety of moves:
    • Air Throw
    • Air Super Technique
    • Counter Pose
    • Lightning / Air Lightning
    • s.A and B, c.A B C, j.A B
    • Jump, stand and crouch turn
    • Throw tech
    • Some hitstuns
    • Crouch block

  • SYSTEM Updates:

    • Added input buffer for EX and Super techniques when doing them from chains
    • Fixed bug where hitting certain flow moves that had the dodge trigger property removed hitstop from the attacker.
    • Fixed scaling bug with certain moves hitting first causing excess damage scaling.

Fixes

  • Ba Sing Se: Colors on window NPCs fixed.
  • "Bumi (Son)" renamed to “Commander Bumi”.
  • ~204+ Localization fixes.

Fighters

  • Avatar Aang: Final Technique now instant KO vs unbalanced opponents.
  • Azula: Fixed Lo and Li causing behavior oddities on double KOs.
  • Katara: EX Kara Cancel Rekka removed.
  • Korra: Korra’s cancel chained specials and EXs fixed.
  • Gameplay] Korra: Fixing bug with j.214A/B forcing Korra to instantly land if done high enough.
  • Kyoshi: Added flow stance evasion on all of her highs.
  • Sokka: Support characters Suki and Yue not reacting properly to Super Technique. The support character would turn constantly if a cooldown was active, but now they should react immediately after he performs Super Technique.
  • Sokka: Boomerang catch accuracy fix.
  • Fixed bug where all supports would have cheaper flow cancels on first match where pre-fight intros play.
  • Ozai: "First boosted normal does more damage" fixed.
  • Ozai: j.236EX is no longer accidentally free.
  • Zaheer: "No hitstop on moves that hit flow-dodge hitbox + point character simultaneously" fixed.
  • Ozai: Zaheer air bubble placement for Final Technique is fixed.
  • Zaheer: j.C restand fixed.
  • Toph: Fixed bug where initial attack on High Ground (Down+Flow->C) did not properly scale - now scales like special.

What is Ranked Mode?

  • RANK MATCH: Matches with stakes for ranking. You earn (and can lose) rank standing, and your rank badge is shown to opponents. Rank is automatically a 3 out of 5 set, and characters are locked in until the set is complete.
    • Upon one player “winning” 3 out of 5 Rank Matches in a set, players can continue the set and change characters. Any subsequent matches within this set do not change ranking.
    • XP is completely unrelated to your rank.

  • CASUAL MATCH: The same matchmaking flow as you’ve experienced before this patch. No rank on the line and no badges shown.

What are Rank badges?

Your Character rank is shown as a badge. There are 10 badges you can earn, in two groups:

  1. Beginner ranks (Badges 1-3): earned by doing placement matches. Your score will be calibrated over some number of games (not a fixed number). You start at Rookie, then move to Apprentice when you complete the first third of the matches you need, then move to Acolyte when you reach the second third of the matches you need.
  2. Master ranks (Badges 4-10): Once you are out of placement rounds, you will be assigned a badge based on your rank points for that character. The skill ranges from roughly 1000-2000 rank points. Badge 10 is not accessible right now, ooh mysterious what can it be?!

RAGEQUIT JAIL:

Ragequit jail is implemented! The game puts you in a different queue if your DC rate is over 20%.

What is XP?

XP shows how much you’ve played online! XP does not affect your rank. Rank points can only be accumulated in Ranked Mode.
