Boomsday v0.5
Demo coming soon for all desktop platforms.
New:
Banc Weapon: Banc the Ball and Chain has joined the arsenal. Swing the chained ball around your character to build momentum, then slam it into enemies for heavy area damage. Projectile upgrades add more chained balls, while weapon upgrades improve their size, chain length, swing speed, and impact effects.
Dismemberment: Powerful weapons, explosions, overkill, and repeated trauma can now tear supported enemies apart. Heads and limbs detach and tumble independently while the rest of the body gets launched by the killing blow. Normal kills still produce standard ragdolls, and the system works with humanoids and multipart monsters. Dismemberment is enabled by default and can be turned off under Settings, Game. Reduced Gore also disables it.
Enemy Warp-In Effect: Non-boss enemies now materialize when they first enter view. They rapidly grow from a tiny point, bounce into place, and finish with a light-blue swirl. Reduced Effects removes the swirl, sound, particles, and light while keeping the lightweight size animation.
Cursor Selection: Added cursor options to the graphics settings. You can now choose between the standard pointer and four crosshairs: Thin, Heavy, Ring, and Heavy Ring.
Boss Tracker: Bosses can no longer sneak around off-screen in private. A skull marker now appears at the edge of the screen and points directly toward them in every game mode. Prefer to be ambushed? Turn it off under Settings, Game.
Shrine Gem Counter: Defend the Shrine now shows each squadmate's gem total beside their name in the party list. Everyone can see the totals update live, so you will know exactly who has been hoarding the loot while you did all the work.
In-Game Steam Invites: Hosts can now invite friends without fumbling through the Steam overlay. Invited players appear in Match Setup as ghosted seats with a two-minute countdown and a boot button, so the entire squad can see exactly who is keeping everyone waiting.
Invite Prompts: Receiving an invite while playing now opens a proper Accept or Decline prompt, even during a run. Accepting abandons your current session and takes you to the squad. Declining makes the prompt disappear, and nobody has to know.
Changed:
Made several small UI improvements and cleaned up visibility and translation issues.
Pressing READY in Match Setup is now a one-time decision. Once pressed, the button greys out and stays locked. The proud tradition of repeatedly mashing READY has officially been retired.
The Player 2 Auto-Perk option is now hidden on touch devices and removed from controller navigation, allowing gamepad focus to skip directly past it.
The Player 1 and Player 2 selector is now hidden on mobile devices because mobile does not support couch co-op.
Your hood color is now officially your color. It appears on your name in Match Setup, your stripe in the squad list, and the ring around your body when you bleed out on the floor. Pick a good one.
The friends list now tells the truth. It shows what everyone is actually doing, including when they are IN THE WRONG GAME. JOIN only appears for squads that actually exist and have room, and the list now scrolls correctly when you have too many friends.
Fixed:
Maximum-Zoom Floor Fix: Fixed a small unrendered section of floor that could appear in the top-left corner when fully zoomed out. Floor coverage now accounts for the entire camera view, including ultrawide resolutions, while still culling off-screen chunks to avoid wasting performance.
Accepting an invite while the game is already open now takes you directly to the squad screen. Pressing PLAY will no longer quietly remove you from the squad you just joined.
The loading screen no longer says it is loading the field twice. Once was enough.
