A Big Update

Disconnect 2 · published · build 24858466

I don't really expect many people to read this, but I wanted to write it anyway.

First of all, I'm sorry the game was released in the state it was in. There were things I should have caught before release, and I take responsibility for that. I know the problems affected people's first experience with the game, and I genuinely regret that. ❤️I'm a solo developer, and I've been handling pretty much everything myself — programming, designing, testing, fixing bugs, and all the little things that come with making a game.Over the last few days, I've been going back through a lot of the game's systems and making some fairly big changes. 🔧

🎮 What I've Been Working On

  • 🕹️ Reworking the player movement and controls.

  • 🟦 Improving how the player moves between platforms.

  • 🛠️ Fixing platforms behaving incorrectly after the player moves.

  • 🔗 Improving platform collisions and triggers.

  • ⬆️ Reworking moving, falling, rising and disappearing platforms.

  • ⚡ Fixing power-up and platform interactions.

  • 🧹 Cleaning up a lot of the underlying code.

  • 🐛 Fixing bugs and strange behaviour I've found while testing.

  • ⚙️ Improving how objects and layers are handled at runtime.

  • 🔍 Spending a lot of time testing, finding problems, and working through them.

There's still plenty left to do, and I'm sure there are things I haven't found yet. But I'm committed to continuing to improve the game and making it a much better experience.I don't want to leave the game where it is. I want to keep working on it and make it something I'm genuinely proud of. 🐶 This game is made for my dog, Banjo, and I'm very attached to it.To anyone who's played the game — thank you. And to anyone who played the game and came away disappointed because of its problems, I'm genuinely sorry.Thank you for sticking with me.
