It's spring. The flowers are blooming, the trees are green again. There's a fresh new scent in the air. A scent that says it's finally time for new SEIKINONAI News! It's been so long since we have been able to do one of these and we are so so excited to be able to do one again!!!!
Now, before we begin, a lot has happened in the last month that we feel should be addressed + a recap of past announcements.
Firstly, we now have a website! All future blogposts, devlogs, newsletters, whatever you want to call them, they will be here.
Secondly, we have brought on new team members! You can see our new members on the "Credits" page of the website! In the header!
Thirdly, SEIKINONAI turned 2 a few days ago! Yay! Happy, happy, happy!
Fourthly, we have a Discord! You can join here! <--- there!
Fifthly, We released a few songs on music streaming platforms! "A Few Songs From SEIKINONAI (Original Game Soundtrack)" Available wherever you stream music.
Okay, now onto the game.
May 2026
We've pretty much got the full game written. Some parts are still loose or up in the air, but we have every area planned out, designed, and generally written.
Now, obviously, we can't show much from the story. That's spoilers! We can't wait for you all to see them in the future though.
We decided to change the game to widescreen, so we're in the process of converting the game to widescreen, which is taking quite a lot of time. All the UI in the game is designed around 4:3, not 16:9, but it's looking a lot better!
The battle system is almost done! It's a bit buggy with some minor problems but it is almost there. Finally. Thank God. I hate "obj_battlecontroller". I hate that object so, so, so, much. So happy with how it turned out though!
Also, the game now has full controller support! Yay! That's not really that important but Yay!
We've gotten so many more characters designed! Characters like: Luke, Lotus, Delirio, Nora, and Andrea! And also a bunch of new art of River, Vex, Ali, and everyone else too! Here, have a Vex art! Have a River portrait too! Art! Yay!
Seeing all the art progress really makes it feel like this is a real game and not some silly project. It's amazing! So proud of our art team. Now, I wonder what's coming up next?
Well. Here we are at the middle of the Newsletter. All I have left is this box that says "SEIKINONAI TEASER TRAILER". I wonder what's in it? Well, nothing left to do but open it.
(The box opens with a brilliant light, and an embedded YouTube video.)
Well, what did you think? That was the first teaser trailer for SEIKINONAI! Sorry that it's only cinematics! The next one will have gameplay! Please share your thoughts in the Discord (which you should totally join)!
SEIKINONAI's store page is up now on Steam! You should like... Wishlist it or something... Seriously though it's so amazing seeing the game just up on Steam. It's really surreal.
It makes the game feel real in a way it never has before.
We're thinking about doing stickers!!! Here's a test print of one of them. If it's something you guys would be interested in let us know on the Discord!
Well. That was a lot.
Before closing up, I want to give the team a massive thank you. They have been working so hard the past two weeks as our deadlines crept scarily close. The fact we made it here on time is amazing. There's no other team I'd rather work with than the SEIKINONAI TEAM! I love you guys!
We hope you're as excited about this stuff as we are! It's been an absolute joy making this game for the past 2 years, and we cannot wait to see what comes next. Thank you for all of your support and reading this far into the Newsletter. We'll be back with more news. Eventually. That'll be all from us for a bit regarding news.
Have a wonderful rest of your day!
Oh by the way, you also may be wondering why we reuploaded this to Steam, and that is because we are going to start crossposting from now on.
