Hey, Night Machine devs here. We just released another update to the Night Machine demo:
We've fully redesigned the mod shop, added a bunch more mods, and changed it to work more like a true tech tree. It gives you a lot more stuff to spend that tasty helium on.
Some nodes now have random environmental events active, like Dusty or Heat Warning, which each change the dynamics of the fight in a specific way.
We've multiplied all armor values by 10, and added weapon accuracy (weapons will randomly miss sometimes), as well as different armor damage values per weapon type. These changes should make it more advantageous to equip multiple weapon types, and allow for more strategic loadout decisions.
We also added a few more time-based cards, similar to Hot Reload, with many more to come.
We're building out our stable of story nodes, which give you more non-combat choices to make as you progress, and start to reveal the narrative and lore of the world -- we're still not going to tell you what's really going on in the moon until later, though. It's classified.
We've updated the location of save files for the demo, to avoid conflicting with playtest and release saves. Unfortunately, this means that any demo progress you had previously will be reset. This should be the one and only time we need to do this. If you really want to keep your old save files, come ask us on Discord and we'll tell you how to migrate those files over to the new directory (it's a little finnicky and might lead to some bugs, so we don't recommend it).
Bug fixes and other changes:
Updated the main menu background
Made hull repair a bit more expensive
Better in-cockpit HUD elements and notifications during a fight
Dangerous Plant and Broken Record ornaments no longer deal damage to armor
Made the post-process screen effect for Targeting Computer less intense
Better controller support for a few misbehaving UI elements
Mod shop cost previously displayed the wrong icon
More optimizations and performance improvements
Thanks for playing!
