This patch includes:
Mile 1 (the tutorial) is much more explicit in explaining how the compass and obstacles work
Added some new visitors, modified who appears on mile 2 and mile 3
You can now move with the mouse (clicking adjacent tiles)
New Capsule Art to help identify the game's genre
Fixed an issue where the Trail Blazer achievement wasn't triggering
It's now been over a week since the demo launched, and I've been monitoring feedback and some statistics. One thing that I felt needed immediate attention was that a decent chunk of players where a little too lost, even for a game about being lost. It was clear that players didn't have a clear sense of what to do, and learning the compass and obstacle system was more frustrating than fun. So, I spent a lot of time revisiting the opening mile, I hope it helps! I've also made a few a general updates, QOL additions and bug fixes. Many players wanted to move with the mouse, so that is now available. Obstacles that contain our local residents are now visible at all times, so you don't have to wander aimlessly to find them. I also put a few new residents in.
I'm planning on doing a few more patches to the demo before I return my focus to finishing the game. For the next update I plan on adding a trail directory to the experience, so you can easily familiarize yourself with the trails available each mile, rather than it feeling completely blind.
I want to hear it. Feel free to post it here in the Steam community hub or on my Discord. I want to make sure Night Hike is a fun experience for future demo players as well as make any long term improvements to the full game
