...have passed since Guilds of Mountgate launched on Steam, and I think it is fair to say that the biggest part of the initial chaos is finally behind us.
The first two days were very intense on my side. Most of my time went into technical work behind the scenes: fixing launch issues, improving server performance, monitoring the live environment and making sure the game could comfortably handle the influx of new players.
Because of that, I was not able to be everywhere at once.
And that is exactly why I want to use this post to say a very sincere thank you to the community.
While I was busy dealing with the technical side of the launch, I repeatedly saw experienced players welcoming newcomers, answering questions, explaining systems and helping people find their way into the game.
That was genuinely great to see.
It also reinforced a decision I made quite some time ago: allowing Founder’s Edition players to enter Guilds of Mountgate before the Steam release.
There were certainly moments during that period where some people questioned that approach, questioned the game, or were very quick to assume where the project would or would not end up.
In hindsight, I am even more convinced that it was the right decision.
By the time the Steam release arrived, Guilds of Mountgate already had a small but experienced community. Players who knew the game, understood its systems and were able to help newcomers while I focused almost entirely on keeping the technical side running.
If everyone had entered the game for the very first time on release day, I would probably have been buried under server issues, support requests and player questions at the same time.
Instead, the community carried a surprisingly large part of that load.
And I absolutely noticed it.
So to everyone who took the time to answer questions, welcome new players or simply help someone who looked a little lost:
Thank you. You made the launch considerably easier for me.
As for patch notes, I will probably skip detailed logs for most of the immediate post-release work. A large amount of it consisted of technical changes under the hood, and the most important player-facing changes have already been listed on the website.
There will of course be proper patch notes again once updates become more content-focused.
For now, though, I simply wanted to mark these first 48 hours.
Guilds of Mountgate is still a small project, built by a very small team — in practice, mostly one person — and there is obviously still a long road ahead.
But looking at the first days on Steam, the player activity, the feedback and especially the way the community has handled the launch, I can personally say one thing with confidence:
This launch has already been a success.
And considering that there were certainly people who expected otherwise, I will admit that this makes it just a little bit more satisfying.
Thank you for being here and of course your patience within the first days of GoM available on Steam.
