We are are just a few days away from the release of The Crimson Maid! We wanted to take this opportunity to go over what's included in the game. Let's talk numbers!
The Crimson Maid has sixteen chapters, with an estimated playtime of about five to six hours for the first playthrough. Of course, your mileage may vary significantly depending on your read speed, your inclination to explore every nook and cranny, and your desire to talk about everything - or nothing at all - with the various characters in the game.
There are four endings, ranging from very bad to downright romantic. A couple of them are more straightforward to unlock, but the other two not so much - you'll have to get out of your way to get them.
Everything in The Crimson Maid revolves around the titular maid, Irina. But your family and your relationship to everyone in it are major components of the game. Each has a story you can get into in depth, or not. Many things are optional in the game. A lot of the times, you can even ignore Irina if you want to.
The game takes place on the Rosenthal estate, consisting of seven locations, including the mansion, the old house, the courtyard, the greenhouse and more. As you revisit some of these locations in later chapters, you'll get access to new parts of them to explore.
If you like numbers and trackers, in the pause screen the game keeps count of all the documents you've read, inspectables, mementos, secrets and moments of flair during conversations, and more. Speaking of mementos, these are collectibles split into: 8 ceramic tile puzzles, 12 family photos, and 5 robins to feed. Once unlocked, you can find them inside your journal, along your thoughts and doodles related to the events you're going through as you play. It has 40 pages of musings by the end of the game, in case you were wondering.
The Crimson Maid can be experienced in 4 different languages: English, French, German and Simplified Chinese.
