Quality of Life 2.1.0 is here!

We’ve made a host of quality of life updates and fixes to Bendy and the Ink Machine, including full Steam Deck verification.

Sorry for the delay on full Steam Deck support over the last few days, we had a small hiccup on the Steamworks backend, but all is well and the game now launches 2.1 on Steam Deck!

Update

• Steam Deck Verified
• Steam Cloud enabled
• Archives updated to contain the Projectionist and descriptions for other characters
• All chapters except Archives unlocked regardless of progress
• Resolved issue with black screen in the Archives
• Unity Upgrade to version 2022.3.62f2

Localisation/Text

• Traditional Chinese added and localisation for all languages reviewed and updated
• Fonts standardised to remove font changes mid-word (temporary measure while fonts are updated/new fonts sourced)
• Resolved issue where some text did not update localisation immediately when language was changed in Settings
• Updated credits for PSH and copyright dates

Audio/Art

• Various fixes for collision and item positions
• Various fixes for static items that were not meant to be static
• Adjusted distance of view fog in Giant Ink Machine room
• Markings on ink tube puzzles now display correctly at all quality levels
• Added SFX to Break Room door in Chapter 1
• Audio of spilling ink does not loop indefinitely when hitting barrels with the plunger
• Swollen Searcher audio no longer triggers multiple times when collecting Thick Ink

Gameplay

• Resolved various softlocks and crashes caused by saving, dying, or becoming stuck while in unintended locations
• Holding the attack button now continuously performs an attack with all weapons
• Weapon ranges increased for Syringe and Plunger
• Improved stability of Seeing Tool, particularly when interrupted by cutscenes
• Minigame camera sensitivity now matches player setting
• Screen no longer flashes when camera control is returned to the player after a scripted transition, e.g. after completing minigames
• Ink Demon spawns more frequently in Chapter 3
• Prevented Ink Demon from catching player while actively entering Little Miracle Station
• Valve for the Archives door in Chapter 4 can be picked up immediately
• Gent Pipe no longer becomes unbreakable when fighting Boris
• Projectionist does not appear on Level 11 after being killed on Level 14
• Prevented Piper from dying before it has jumped out from the poster in Chapter 3
• No longer possible to break the first ink blobs too quickly when the Giant Hand appears in Chapter 5 and prevent it from being able to attack
• Giant Hand no longer clips through the tunnel wall
• Sammy can no longer push the player out of the map in Chapter 5
• Butcher Gang no longer get stuck as easily inside rooms in Administration
• Made it harder to escape the gondola and elevator
• Menu/UI
• Seasonal content last all of October and can be toggled in Options
• UI scaling adjustments for Steam Deck
• Save icon now appears again when doing manual saves
• Brightness setting now applies fully when first changed
• Menu navigation stability improved with controller
• Objective UI improvements: no objective is displayed while in the Archives, UI updates when finding Wally's keys, and tips are not displayed anywhere when disabled in Options
• Resolved issue where controller prompts were always displayed in tutorials with a controller connected but inactive
• Resolved issue where excess resolution options were displayed in Options
• Resolved issue where options menu may be unusable with invalid registry keys
