Wahey! It's been 8 days since the exciting (at least for me) launch of the Steam Page of Tobias' Inferno!
I just wanted to pop in and give you guys an idea of what the game will look like. There's admittedly not much gameplay, as this is just one big cutscene, but I promise to send more action-packed previews, should I make more!
Here, you get to see the game's fixed camera system (a technique long abandoned since the early 2000's) with pre-rendered backgrounds and low-poly character models. Some of you might see where the game is inspired off of...!
As mentioned, this is an early preview of the game. There are plenty of things I still need to iron out here (especially the lack of characters in the cafeteria... call it a ghost town, ey?)
As you might've guessed, Tobias' Inferno is a mascot horror game. And like the usual, it will release chapter by chapter.
I will however do things differently.
Y'know how most of the time they either make a whole new Steam page or downloadable content that is sold separately? (this is not a jab, I promise)
I personally don't like that kind of approach, especially if this involves multiple entirely new Steam apps! It causes clutter, and if going the new Steam page per chapter route, can get pretty pricey- especially if the games don't succeed! Did you know it costs about 100$ USD to purchase a Steam page? This is my personal opinion, however. Don't take it as fact! Anyhow, how I plan to do it...
…Chapter 1 will be released as a free demo. When you buy Chapter 2, you buy what will eventually become the full game, all 10 chapters. Chapters will be released as free updates to the full game! Chapters 2 and onward are practically purchased all at once! This is how I've seen a few indie games do it, and in my honest opinion, I think I like this method the most!
I promise you, the final product will be awesome!
That's a really good question... I've no idea yet, but I am currently aiming for a December release. This might be thwarted by other things like college and whatnot. No promises!
After reading this post, you should have a good idea of how the game will look and feel and it's release process! I'll try to keep you guys posted on the game and it's development, but alas- I must get back to work before I get side-tracked by the next silly thing. See you later, everyhoo!
