Demo Update — A New Opening

HELLO HACKER - Project Daybreak Demo · published 12 Sep 2026, 23:24 UTC

The demo now opens the way it was always meant to.

Start a new game and you land in a short cinematic sequence before you ever
touch the desktop: who Meridian are, what happened to Nightfall, and the
transmission that puts you on the job. Relay introduces himself properly this
time — he's the one who'll be watching your back for the rest of it.

New

  • A full cinematic opening — the story, the walk-in, and two incoming transmissions
  • Subtitles on by default, with a readable transcript
  • Skip controls at every stage, including a single Skip all straight to the desktop
  • Relay now cuts in with a nudge when you're about to get yourself caught

Fixed

  • The in-game browser renders its pages properly again
  • Terminal: copy and paste, a visible cursor, and commands that wrap across lines
  • Text in the browser, scanner and terminal can be selected and copied
  • Commands reject bad arguments instead of quietly ignoring them
  • A pile of smaller corrections across the Prologue

If you've played an earlier build, start a New Game to see the opening —
it plays at the beginning of a run, so a saved game will skip straight past it.

Thanks for playing. If you want to find out what Daybreak actually does, the
full game is on the way.
