Devlog - Finding the Fun

Hello everyone,

I feel like I could start every devlog with the same phrase: "It's been a busy few months!" 😄 Together with Monster Theater, we conducted an internal playtest to get a feel for the current state of the game. I always find these extremely helpful, like a check-in on how the game is doing overall. It's easy to lose track of that when you're in the midst of something.Overall, the feedback was very positive, but there are some key areas that still need work. Mainly the stealth mechanics. The demo only shows a glimpse of these mechanics, but the full version of the game will feature more situations and more ways for the player to find a solution. That also led to a revelation I had about these mechanics in Solace Creek in general: I think of every encounter in the game as just another kind of puzzle, but one that, unlike the others, is more open and allows for some experimentation. That's exactly where the fun comes in, I think, and finetuning that aspect has been the focus of the last few weeks. Making sure these encounters are fun and not frustrating while also making sure the mechanics fit into the overall game.Reiterating on controller support has also been a big focus, since that was an area of friction in the demo. A lot of it involved the UI but the general input layout as well.Overall the game has made much progress and I feel like I'm in the last quarter now. But you know, you never really know 😄Thanks for reading, and as always, for your support ♥️

Make sure to check out his podcast!Community8 Jul 2026Devlog - A Journal for HerHey lovely people, This June was a lot about something that grew directly out of the discussion from the last post, where we discussed about how the protagonist is interacting with the world. Around the same time, I'd also been sitting on an idea for collectible photos scattered through the game. During internal discussions those two things merged into one: a journal. It works on a few levels a…Community19 May 2026Devlog - Something to think aboutHey everyone! Things have been moving along steadily since the last update. I've been working through a good chunk of new content and the game keeps feeling more and more like what I always imagined it to be. Nothing big to announce just yet, but it's all coming together. Something to think about: A point that keeps coming up in comments from people who played the demo is that the main characte…
