New Building: Desalinator

A lot of players were having trouble getting enough water to meet their needs. So there is now a new building: Desalinator! It converts Salt Water to regular Water that can be used in all recipes.

The Desalinator has two recipes:

  • Salt Water -> Water

  • Salt Water + Electricity -> Water

The second recipe is much faster, but does require electricity. And it must be unlocked with a Crafting Token.

The Desalinator can be unlocked on the Research / Utility tab, after unlocking Water Trenches.

New Item: Salt Water

The Desalinator requires Salt Water. The way you get Salt Water is by pumping it out of the ocean using a Water Pump. You can use the same Water Pump you've always been using, but instead of being on a Water Trench, it can instead be placed at sea level overlapping an ocean tile.

The Water Pump should automatically select the correct recipe (pump Water, or pump Salt Water) based on where it is positioned, but you can change it manually.

Salt Water isn't really good for anything besides feeding to the Desalinator. But in the future, I might let you extract the Salt and use it for recipes!

Salt water can be transported using Fluid Pipes.

Balance Changes

  • Doubled speed of Windmill energy production

  • Islands will now always spawn with at least 1 river / water spring (only on newly created maps, not legacy maps)

  • Doubled output of Wind and Water shrines

  • Creating a water spring will create a water trench in the same block (required for water to flow)

  • Reservoir capacity increased from 100 to 250. This is applied retroactively to all existing reservoirs

Misc Improvements

  • Water Pumps will have a ‘drought’ indicator if they are connected to a water trench, which has no water, and there is actively a drought

  • Water pumps connected to the ocean will indicate “Ocean Tile” in its “Linked To” selection tab

  • Admin / Creative mode now allows “Create River” tool

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed game crash and map fail to load if a conveyor belt got a facing direction of ‘none’

  • Fixed bug: a map with only trains would not allow them to pathfind correctly

  • Fixed bug: In games with Manual Labor modifier, buildings might initialize with zero production speed even if they have a worker.

  • Potentially fixed issue where inside at a building would show ‘idle’ instead of crafting

  • Fixed game crash when using some terrain tools over part of the map with no terrain

  • Fixed bug: some tooltip text labels were appearing yellow or red, because they weren’t resetting formatting after being modified as part of a worker unit’s stats display

  • Fixed bug: mastery was not gained when Fishing Hut workers harvested Fish

  • Fixed bug: placing water springs was rejecting locations that had a water trench, even though that is a valid structure to build on top of

In-game event28 Aug 2026Patch Notes 136Mana Rechargers The Shrine buildings have been pretty underpowered, mainly because they fully consume Mana Crystals and those are fairly expensive to make (especially with very high water requirements to get the Mana Shards). So I've added back a highly-requested system from Factory Town 1: Mana Rechargers! Mana Rechargers take Depleted Mana Crystals, and a little Magic Powder, to produce a reg…In-game event21 Aug 2026Patch Notes 135Shopping Balance Changes Players aiming for the Utopia achievement were having difficulty getting 100% happiness for all their villagers. There was always a small handful of workers just slightly unhappy, but by the time they shopped to full happiness, another worker would become unhappy. This was mostly due to some previous changes meant to prevent workers from abandoning their jobs for long s…In-game event10 Aug 2026Patch Notes 134Fixed bug: Perk Points were not counted correctly in the end game. (Players who had completed mini-volcano quests, then beat the game, were not seeing correct counts of available perk points) · Improved terrain shading · Smoothed motion of sun on sunrise and sunset · More adjustments to dynamic lighting · Fixed some non-localized terms
