Steam Next Fest is here! And we have spent the past few weeks putting the finishing touches on the early game: smoother first steps, a livelier settlement, and a frontier that feels ready to welcome new players.

Getting started

New early game missions and tutorials guide your first decisions
Early game balancing for fairer, clearer pacing

A settlement with character

Character portraits: a modular portrait system now generates a unique face for every resident, matched to their in-game 3D model
Chimney smoke rises from active buildings, so you can read your outpost at a glance
Visual polish, including nicer day and night transitions

A living world

City orchestrator: every neutral town now has its own "brain" that keeps it alive and expands it as needed, so the world grows around you

Quality of life

Player-set storage caps for tighter control of your supplies
New Main menu
UX improvements across the board
Plenty of bug fixes

This update rounds out the early experience we wanted you to have. With the foundations firmly in place, our attention now turns to what comes next, and we cannot wait to show you where the frontier leads. More on that very soon.

Dive in during Next Fest, and let us know what you think. Wishlists and feedback help us enormously.

See you on the frontier!
