What is Fable?

Fable returns in a stunning reboot of a beloved franchise. As the first Hero in a generation, explore a living Albion filled with peculiar characters, dark humour, and chickens... lots of chickens. This isn’t just nostalgia — it’s a new beginning set in a beautifully vibrant open world, with enough British wit to make your mum blush.

Create your own unique Hero and wield powerful weapons as you dynamically weave melee, ranged, and magical combat. Take on bandits, beasts, and creatures pulled straight from British folklore — including brand-new enemies and fan-favorites like Hobbes, Balverines, and Trolls. Your power grows right alongside your reputation. And let’s be honest, sometimes being feared is just more fun.
BUILD AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE
Beyond all the combat lies a world that never stops turning. Get filthy rich as a landlord or blacksmith, romance a villager (or three — we’re not judging), have a bunch of kids, and watch as your reputation precedes you. Being a Hero is a bit like being a celebrity… if celebrities carried swords and occasionally battled giant fire-breathing chickens.
YOUR CHOICES CHANGE THE WORLD
In Albion, a Hero’s reputation is everything. Your noble deeds and questionable decisions affect your relationship with each townsperson and have the potential to shape the world around you. Whose opinion matters most? The choice is yours… and so are the consequences. It’s up to you to decide what it means to be a Hero.
Who is developing Fable?
We’re Playground Games! Known for creating the beautiful, immersive open-world Forza Horizon series. Don’t panic car fans, Forza Horizon isn’t going anywhere; the Fable team is an entirely separate team of passionate developers who share a deep love of Fable, and a burning desire to bring it back.
Is this a continuation of the original Fable trilogy?
No. Though the game we’re making is very much faithful to the spirit of the classic Lionhead trilogy, Fable is a new beginning for the Fable franchise and isn’t a continuation of the original games.
Is Fable still set in Albion?
Yes, Fable is set in the fully open world of Albion with reimagined locations for you to explore and inhabitants for you to meet.
Will there be character customisation?
Absolutely! We want you to play as the Hero you want to be, and that starts with character customisation. You’ll be able to choose how your character looks in the character creation process, selecting different heads, hair styles, skin tones and more.
Will moral choices still play a key role in the game?
Yes. Fable is and has always been about moral choices and the consequences that follow. They will play an important role throughout the game.
Will there be multiplayer?
No, Fable is a single player open-world action-RPG.
Will there be Demon Doors?
We can confirm Demon Doors will be returning to Fable. These sentient and overly opinionated stone doors gatekeep mysterious areas and the rewards that lie within.
Will Fable feature well known British actors?
We have many iconic British actors providing their talents to bring characters in Fable to life. You can find out more in this Xbox Wire article.

When is Fable launching?
Fable will launch on 23rd February 2027
Will there be Early Access?
Yes, you'll get up to 5 days Early Access with the Premium Edition. Early Access starts on 18th February 2027.

EDITIONS & PRE-ORDERS
Where can I pre-order?
Pre-order Fable now to receive the Pre-Order Content Pack, featuring the questionably heroic Chicken Suit and a collection of charming in-game Gifts: a Wild Flower Bouquet, a Toy Chicken, and a Scones & Jam Picnic Hamper. You can pre-order now on Steam.
What editions of the game are available?
There are three editions: Standard, Premium and Collector's Edition. You can find out exactly what's in each edition here.
Can I upgrade the Standard Edition of Fable to Premium Edition on Steam?
You will be able to upgrade from the Standard Edition to Premium Edition on Steam after the game launches on February 23, 2027.
When will I receive the Collectors Edition? Will it be in time for early access?
The Fable Collector’s Edition will ship closer to its launch date in February, in time for players to enjoy Early Access, which begins on February 18th 2027.
Will there be more stock made available of the Collector’s Edition?
Due to incredible demand, we have sold out of the Collector's Edition of Fable. We appreciate that this might be disappointing. We currently have no plans to restock the Collector’s Edition.
Is there any DLC planned for Fable?
Yes! Write the next chapter of your legend in Fable: Order of the Hero. In this story-driven expansion, you’ll explore a dangerous new region of Albion dominated by a mysterious ancient cult. Find out more in our blog, here.
The Order of the Hero expansion will be available post launch. Pre-order the Fable Premium Edition now to access the Order of the Hero expansion when it launches.
Will I be able to listen the soundtrack?
You'll be able to listen to the Digital Soundtrack is available as part of the Premium Edition. You can find out more about the different editions available for pre-order here.

Will Fable run at 60 FPS?
You will have the option to play at both 30 and 60 fps. We will have more detail to share on this as we approach launch.
Which languages will be supported in game?
At launch, Fable will be fully localized (Full Audio + Text) for English, Brazilian Portuguese, German and Latin American Spanish. Text-only localisation will be available for French, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish and Polish.
