Pompeii: The Legacy · published · build 24890603
Hello everyone!
A new Pompeii: The Legacy update v1.010.1 is now live!
This update focuses heavily on performance, stability, and improving the experience in larger cities. It contains a combination of many smaller optimizations and several larger changes to systems such as citizen movement, building placement, roads, walls, fences, and rendering.
Players with large and heavily developed cities should notice smoother gameplay, fewer short pauses when placing new buildings, and generally more consistent performance.
There are also several bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements; including a much clearer indication when Destroy mode is active.
And this isn't the update I've been teasing recently! I'm already working on another, much more gameplay-focused update that I hope to release in around 10 days.
Optimized citizen movement calculations, resulting in smoother performance in cities with large numbers of buildings.
Optimized building and fence placement in large cities, reducing pauses when placing new structures.
Improved rendering performance by avoiding the creation of model render lists when they aren't actually needed.
Optimized road rendering.
Optimized wall rebuilding after sections of a wall are demolished.
Several additional smaller optimizations throughout these systems.
Activating Destroy Buildings or Destroy Fences now adds a clearly visible red screen overlay, similar to the overlay used when moving buildings.
This should make it much easier to immediately recognize that Destroy mode is active and help prevent accidental demolitions.
Updated the fence system.
Fences can now be built as a single-tile section.
Fixed incorrect overlap/resource calculations that could allow walls to be constructed without sufficient resources.
Fixed Tower and Gate visuals not refreshing correctly after demolishing parts of a wall.
Improved rebuilding behavior after wall sections are removed.
Fixed a potential issue when deleting or moving Pumps.
Fixed incorrect Aqueduct connections when two Pumps were placed with a one-tile gap between them.
Fixed an issue where quickly moving the camera immediately after finishing road construction could cause the road to continue from an incorrect position.
Fixed an issue where a newly built Prefecture could occasionally remain without a worker indefinitely. A worker should now correctly arrive at the new Prefecture.
Thank you, as always, for all the feedback, save files, bug reports, and testing. A number of the fixes and improvements in this update came directly from issues reported by players, and that continues to be incredibly helpful.
I'm particularly interested in hearing how large cities perform after this update, so please let me know if you notice an improvement.
And there won't be a long wait for the next one. If everything goes according to plan, another major update is coming in around 10 days, this time with a much stronger focus on new gameplay improvements and features.
Thank you for playing Pompeii: The Legacy!
