MAJOR UPDATE 2.0
Watch on YouTube
Hello everyone!
We’re excited to announce that Stones Keeper is getting a major free update on September 14. Essentially, it will be a remaster of the original game ahead of the release of its sequel — Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord.
Our goal is to bring both games in the series up to the same standard of quality while finally giving something back to everyone who supported us by buying the original.
While working on the sequel, we made major improvements to the visuals, animations, gameplay, and storytelling. Now, we want to bring those improvements to the original Stones Keeper. You can look forward to fully animated units and a story campaign rewritten entirely from the ground up.
Full list of upcoming changes:
Technical changes:
- The entire Stones Keeper campaign ported to the upgraded engine used by Stones Keeper II;
- New mechanics: Zone of Control and Backstab;
- A complete overhaul of the controls to make them more intuitive and user-friendly;
- Unit progression expanded from 3 levels to 6;
- The number of talents increased from 9 to 15;
- Equipment available to the human faction in the campaign expanded from 1 tier to 3, with tier 3 unlocking midway through the game.
Visual changes:
- Full animation sets for every unit;
- Additional animations for unique units from the original game;
- Animated portraits for every character in dialogue scenes;
- Animated objects on the world map;
- An animated castle interior scene;
- New main menu animations.
Story changes:
- All story text and dialogue rewritten from the ground up;
- The story reworked to tie it more closely to Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord and further expand the game’s lore;
- A new story character;
- Redrawn cutscenes.
Gameplay changes:
- Rebalanced in-game economy and resource distribution across the world map;
- Rebalanced experience point rewards across the world map;
- Enemy units rebalanced around the updated progression system;
- New repeatable battles in Chapter 3, allowing players to earn additional resources and experience points;
- Three new campaign mercenaries, recruited through new allies;
- New reward chests in nearly every campaign mission;
- Reworked gameplay in select missions. For example, the more difficult stealth missions featuring the Ranger will now allow players to make 2 or 3 mistakes, depending on the selected difficulty;
- Updated level design for select missions;
- The ability to play as Princess Elizabeth in 4 pivotal campaign missions. Because of a branching story path, only 3 of these missions will be available in a single playthrough;
- Numerous smaller gameplay adjustments, from ability stats to the debuffs inflicted by poison pools;
- Additional pirate ships on the world map, appearing earlier in the campaign;
- Earlier access to castle upgrades at the Workshop.
