Tyr's release window, new trailer, and the next playtest

Tyr · published

Today we’re officially announcing Tyr’s release window: Summer 2026.

That release will be our Early Access launch, and we’ll keep running playtests right up until then. So if you’ve been waiting for more chances to jump into matchmaking, you won’t be waiting long.

We talk more about that release window and recent news in this week's dev update. As always, read on below and/or watch in video form.

Why Early Access, and why now?

Early Access is the right next step for where we are in development.

First, it gets Tyr closer to what the community has been asking for: more consistent, always-on access, not just short windows.

Second, it lets us shape Tyr with wider and more varied feedback than we can get from limited tests. More players, more playstyles, more edge cases, more perspectives. That is exactly what we want at this stage, and it’s exactly what Early Access is good at.

Our next playtest will be May 2nd, 2026

We’re playtesting Tyr again on May 2nd, 2026, at 12:00 PM PT.

This will be a six-hour playtest, running from 12:00 PM PT to 6:00 PM PT. Start and end times in your timezone are below.

How to join

You’ve got two ways in:

  1. Request access on Steam - It's random, but we admit players in growing waves ahead of each playtest.

  2. Ask for an invite in our Discord - Our community has access to invites that provide instant playtest admission.

Check out our sweet new garage

This upcoming playtest includes something new that we’re excited about: a new 3D garage that appears in the lobby once you've found a match.

The garage even features a huge doorway that looks out onto the map you're set to play, right there in the background. It’s a small thing, but it adds a lot of atmosphere that I'm sort of in love with.

Next competitive tournament: $2,500 prize pool (May 16)

We’re hosting our next competitive Tyr tournament on May 16, 2026, with a $2,500 USD prize pool.

Prize breakdown:

  • 1st place: $1,300 USD

  • 2nd place: $700 USD

  • 3rd and 4th place: $250 USD each

Want in? Head to our Discord, grab the competitive role from the role bot (ask if you can't find this, we'll be happy to help), and sign up for the tourney. Don't have a team? No worries, we have a signup sheet specifically for Free Agents.

If you want to be notified when Tyr enters Early Access, add us to your wishlist here on Steam. Valve will send you an email once the game is live.

See you on the battlefield. 🫡
