Spring Fling Update — Smoother kitchens, floppy hair, and fewer crashes

Hey chefs!

The Spring Fling Update is rolling out today — a big polish pass that came almost entirely from your feedback in Discord, reviews, and bug reports. No new content this time (that's coming in June), but a pile of multiplayer fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and a few small visual upgrades that should make every kitchen run smoother.

🥗 The highlights

  • New sounds and animations for the Sparkler Station — finally feels as good as it looks

  • Better animations when grabbing food, picking up items, and creating recipes — you can actually see what's happening at a glance now

  • Physics-enabled hair on every character

  • A pile of multiplayer sync fixes (water pots, autograbber, autocut, double-interactions)

  • Smarter plate and cup stacking when picking from sinks and creating recipes

  • Crash fixes and achievement-pop optimization — no more lag spikes when several achievements unlock at once

🤝 Multiplayer fixes (the big one)

  • Autocut and autograbber now work properly for clients

  • Water pot visuals are now correct on client side

  • Water pots no longer disappear when clients swap them with another pot

  • Water pots no longer drift around the kitchen when placed by a client (fixed kinematic issue)

  • Fixed the double-interaction edge case where you'd place an item and pick it up at the same time

🍳 Quality of life

  • The water pot is now interactable before the level starts

  • Picking plates or cups from a sink now stacks them automatically

  • Creating a recipe on a stack of plates or cups auto-detaches a single one — e.g., place a chicken on a stack of plates and you'll grab a single chicken plate, leaving the rest of the stack untouched

  • Achievement pop-ups no longer cause lag spikes when several unlock at once

🐛 Bug fixes

  • Airbot can now be controlled with stationary placements

  • Airbot no longer gets stuck when it can't find a path

  • The air cannon in Food Fight no longer jams

  • Customers in the desert kitchen no longer walk through the kitchen area bumping into players

  • Food items thrown with the autograbber no longer occasionally get placed back on the station

  • Squashed several errors that were contributing to crashes

🔮 What's next

We're heads-down on a bigger free content update coming in June — new content, new chaos, and a few surprises. The Spring Fling Update is the polish pass before that bigger drop, getting the foundation as smooth as possible so the new stuff lands right.

🙏 One small ask

If you've been enjoying Foodslingers — even more after this update — a quick Steam review helps more than you'd think. We're at 64 Very Positive reviews right now, and every single one helps Steam show the game to new chefs.

Thanks for sticking with us through 1.0, the launch, and now the Spring Fling. See you in the kitchen.
