We've been blown away by the reception of 1.5, Hugh and the DLC - thank you all so much for your support! As we plan the 1.6 update, we knew we wanted to nip a bunch of nasty bugs in the bud, plus improve some elements that were bothering us ahead of the bigger quality of life update we want to deliver down the line. The two headliners are:
1) a fix that prevented progression during the DLC
2) no more lighting woes/dark scenes! But we've fixed and improved tons of elements of the game across the entire experience so read on for the full details!

PROGRESSION

  • We've fixed an issue where the progression of certain Artist of Brimhaven quests were becoming blocked if the Success for Donoval looping quest had not been completed before the DLC was started.

  • We believe we have fixed an issue in the Artist of Brimhaven content that was causing active quests (such as Jaq's, Esme's and Aunty's) to be removed from the Quest Tracker when multiple quests were summoned at the same time. We removed a time skip call at the end of these non standard quests and replaced it with a quest tracker update call. This should prevent these quests from immediately starting and ending at the same time.

  • Prevented a potential softlock in the tutorial if you go to bed before selling the bottle to Nomia.

  • Fix for Expansion Mode button appearing late if you quit the game mid-tutorial.

LOCALISATION & WRITING

  • There's been a small handful of fixes to the Korean, Chinese and Hungarian localisations.

  • The Hungarian credits now roll properly.

  • The opening story beat for the Artist of Brimhaven DLC is now fully visible in Thai.

  • Aimon now specifically asks for the Fishy Trophy to be both Silver and Upcycled in the German and Chinese localisation.

  • Some of Sam and Oli's dialogue had become muddled so we've corrected that.

  • We've nuked a few more typos which were particularly embarrassing to our Producer as she was the one that introduced them!

TRINKETS

  • The Clawed Gem and Silver Ring now have the correct names in Hungarian.

  • We've addressed the trinket highlight outline. It used to look pretty ugly on smaller trinkets!

  • Some renovation quest mercy timer trinkets have been changed to more relevant trinkets.

GAMEPLAY

  • The colours of trinkets attached to Corks or certain Lids will no longer automatically extract when entering Recolouring Mode.

  • Fixed an issue where some trinkets became unticked in the Quest Tracker, despite being valid.

  • Fix for the Quest Tracker counting one trinket multiple times.

  • There is now clearer messaging around the unlock moment for Hugh for players on existing saves.

  • The camera's "zoom into NPCs" movement at market districts has been changed back to its previous settings so you can see more of the background art.

  • The Game Guide now has a section for Recolouring (we've removed Tips for now).

  • The best kept secret bug in the game has now been fixed; you can no longer purchase customisation presets if you have no gold!

  • We've fixed an issue that prevented NPCs from emoting when there was more than one on screen, and we've gone back through the game adding expression changes to these moments.

  • Tooltips will no longer overflow the game window when playing on fullscreen.

  • We've changed the position of the zoom buttons for the Brimhaven district.

POLISH

  • We've added the animations to Hugh that we didn't have time to complete before the 1.5 launch.

  • We've new lighting and postprocessing to the Brimhaven district so it can be appreciated in all its restored beauty.

  • We've removed the lighting system that was switching off shop lights and not turning them back on under certain circumstances.

OPTIMISATION/PERFORMANCE

  • Nomia's sprite had been inexplicably shrunk to half of the usual NPC size so they were appearing fuzzy. They've now been restored to their full mustachioed glory. Aimon's sprite was fine though, so that's more "proof" of a certain theory.

  • We have addressed an issue that was causing achievements to make too many calls to the server and then stop firing, resulting in achievements not triggering correctly for Epic Game Store customers. This also results in a smidge better performance on all platforms.

  • Lighting in the shop has been improved and optimised.

  • Removed a misplaced sparkle vfx in chipping and cleaning ceremonies.
