With the upcoming release of Shadows over Crete next week, we are excited to share some insights into the first mission featured in this new Commandos: Origins DLC. This mission introduces fresh ideas that we can’t wait to show.
For the first time in Commandos: Origins, drivable vehicles will take centre stage. You will have to drive your way through a German-occupied coastal region, collecting important supplies for the Greek Resistance. Protecting your transport is essential. If your vehicle is destroyed, you will fail the mission, so careful planning and tactical awareness are necessary.
In this operation, you will command a unique combination of Commandos. Use the Marine to infiltrate from the water or rely on the Driver to slip in from behind enemy lines by climbing poles and flanking defences. The mission encourages creativity, giving you the freedom to choose how your Commandos solve the challenges ahead.
"Since we already had a fun and responsive vehicle system, we wanted to design a mission that truly revolves around driving and protecting your vehicle," the team explains.
"Placing the story during the invasion of Greece allowed us to craft beautiful Mediterranean landscapes and an immersive atmosphere.
It was especially fun to work on this little road trip scenario, where your vehicle becomes both your best asset and your greatest vulnerability."
