Letter #2

In response to your dead friend’s previous letter, you decided to write the following:

“Should I prepare for armed struggle? Will I have to take up arms?”

A week later, returning home from work, you notice a letter carelessly peeking out from under your apartment door.

The reply has finally arrived.

Dear friend,

I see you are not faint-hearted. You do not fear direct confrontation. Or perhaps, on the contrary, you are extremely cautious?

I admit, the chance that you will have to take up arms is very high. In the city of Broken, danger now lurks in every corner. Yet you will always have other ways to deal with a threat—slip away unseen, flee, pressure your opponent, intimidate them, or find a way to negotiate peacefully.

Just remember, my friend—you won’t always be able to avoid a fight.

One of the most dangerous forces behind the new order is the Immortal Guard. This fanatical secret police force reports directly to the Traum family. How many brave souls have vanished forever under their inhuman gaze…

They do not sleep, do not need food, and almost never speak. They are merciless and leave their enemies not the slightest chance.

I do not believe they are human. Something else lives within them... Avoid fighting them at all costs!

There are also ordinary people—those who serve in the Watch, work as waiters, clerks, factory workers. They are easier to deal with: some can be persuaded, some deceived, others intimidated. It all depends on your goal.

Alas, to them we are evil, seeking to plunge the city into eternal darkness and strife. The Traums have done their job well: everyone knows that conspirators are society's worst enemies.

So you will have to face clashes and conflicts even with them. But remember—we are not murderers! Whatever the risk, do not allow bloodshed. Otherwise, you will quickly become the very thing you fight against.

Once again, I enclose a few photographs with this letter. This time they show skirmishes our comrade recently took part in.

I am waiting for your reply. What would you like to know next, before boarding the train to Broken?

I believe in you,

Your Dead Friend.

POLL: YOUR REPLY TO THE DEAD MAN

What will you write in your reply?
(The poll results will determine what the mysterious conspirator calling himself the Dead Man sends you in the next letter!)

Join the game’s Discord server and influence the outcome:

  1. I need to know more about your Conspiracy and its members!

  2. What challenges will I face in the City? And what skills will help me overcome them?

  3. Who will I encounter in your City? Who lives there and what are their customs?

  4. How should I prepare for the journey? What do you have in your arsenal?

We owe y…Community6 Mar 2026NPC Interaction in Agent of StrangeHi! This is Sever Studio. Today we’d like to talk about how interaction with NPCs works in our game. First of all, one of the key features of our dialogue system is that NPCs have their own motives and goals. These don’t necessarily include helping everyone — and they certainly don’t see themselves as a walking help desk for the player character. In a more conventional RPG, NPCs are usually hap…Community18 Feb 2026What Kind of RPG is Agent of Strange?Hi! This is Sever Studio. Today we’d like to talk about the genres Agent of Strange belongs to — and how those genres actually take shape in the game. The first and core genre is RPG — and in the most literal sense of the word. A role-playing game as the freedom to play a role you create for yourself. Our goal as authors is to give players as much room for self-expression and role-play as possi…
