- Added the Mercenary (special role). This role will be available from 11 players in the “Special” pool.
- The Mercenary starts the game as a Crewmate. After the first meeting, they gain the ability to kill. If they choose to use it, they switch sides and become an Impostor. However, they will never know the identity of the other Impostors, and vice versa. They can use vents but do not have access to sabotages (and are still affected by them). They can be killed by other Impostors and can also kill them. Finally, for determining the end of the game, they are not directly counted among the Impostor team. The Mercenary may also choose not to kill and remain a Crewmate.
- The common task Keys has been removed and replaced with three new tasks: Clean Toilets (Lab), Make Burger (Office), and Buy Beverage (Office). Each player who was originally assigned the Keys task will now receive one of these three tasks at random instead.
- The draft mode has been reworked for special role assignment. The pool configuration is now:
[Special 1 = Crewmate / Jester / Eater] or [Special 2 = Crewmate / Mercenary / Cultist].
The appearance rates of these variants now vary depending on the number of players, the map, and the number of Impostors, in order to better balance role distribution within a lobby. - Crewmates without a role now receive new bonuses, and their distribution has been adjusted to be more random. The following bonuses have been added:
Camera +3s – increases camera usage time by +3 seconds per round.
Admin +3s – increases Admin table usage time by +3 seconds per round.
Geiger Counter (Polus Nuclear only) – allows the player to detect the nuclear alert.
Vision Potion – slightly increases vision.
Bloody – if the player is killed, the killer leaves a trail of blood on the ground for a few seconds.
Vent Penalty – vent usage is disabled during the first round.
Sabotage Penalty – sabotages (including doors) are disabled during the first round.
Kill Penalty – at the start of the game, the kill cooldown is not 10 seconds but 20–27.5 seconds (depending on game settings).
