Quality of Life patch 1.0.3!

Hey! We've got a new update for you.

Thanks to your reports on bugs and Quality of Life suggestions, we've managed to bring you this new 1.0.3 update. It features a few bug fixes and a bunch of new features! We'll highlight a few of them now, but if you'd like to see a full list of changes, you'll find it at the bottom of the post.

New wall textures

Visibility and readability of Meepie has been a constant challenge throughout development of Meepie. The previous cone-based wall design stood out too much and looked boring. The new design of all 5 types of walls will bring some freshness to the levels and will give you a bit nicer pallete of walls to use in the level editor. Each wall type consists of 16 wall textures, unique for each interaction with the surrounding wall tiles. With 5 types total, that's 80 new pre-rendered wall textures, instead of - let that sink in - five, that we used to have!

UI improvements & hotkeys

PC players, unlike mobile gamers, are power users. They love minmaxing their experience. And because of that, we made the game easier to control using a keyboard. You can now select items using the top row numbers, quick save with F5 and quick load with F9. This should make some of these harder levels a bit more bearable to finish!

On top of that, the splash screen with the logo can now be skipped, the warning sign near the lasers is gone, and the settings menu features a volume slider for sound effects and music. Oh and remember these level welcome dialogs? They will no longer play when you restart a level. You're welcome.

Path indicators

Sometimes it was hard to easily understand what route Meepie will take to get to the target. Now, hovering over a tile will show a blue line, which will reduce the number of burnt Meepies in a hot laser beam. That wouldn't be a quality of life update, if Meepie's health wouldn't be affected.

Full patch notes

New features & improvements:

  • UI: The splash screen can be skipped, if seen at least once

  • UI: Added hotkey indicators for each item box in the inventory

  • UI: Removed the warning sign when attempting to pass through a laser

  • Game: Updated wall textures to increase fidelity

  • Game: Minor changes to level 1 to soften the learning curve

  • Game: Restarting a level does not re-show the Meepie’s level welcome dialog

  • Game: Hovering over a tile draws a line indicating Meepie’s movement path

  • Level editor: right clicking acts like using a bulldozer

  • Level editor: holding the left click and moving the mouse now lets you build quicker

  • Discord: added Discord rich presence API

Bug fixes:

  • In-game dialog overlays now cover the entire screen instead of just the playable area

  • Fixed bugs preventing the player from saving progress and completing levels

That's it for now, and we'll see you again soon!
