This week focused on strengthening one of the game’s core pillars: immersion and the feeling of a living ecosystem, while also laying the groundwork for more ambitious gameplay systems.

The goal remains the same: creating a world that feels alive beyond the player’s presence.

🌿 A More Living Savannah

New dynamic events have been introduced to make the savannah feel more organic.

Players may now encounter:

  • Gallimimus peacefully feeding together inside bushes,

  • sleeping Triceratops resting naturally in their habitat,

  • several small environmental storytelling moments.

For example, a baby Triceratops searching for its father may appear, creating subtle emotional storytelling without interrupting gameplay.

These moments exist naturally within the world rather than as scripted cutscenes.

🐦 Flight — A New Way to Read the World

A new mechanic has been introduced: temporary flight.

By pressing Enter, Tawa swaps with the raven for 10 seconds, granting a strategic aerial perspective that allows players to:

  • anticipate danger,

  • observe predators,

  • plan safer routes.

The raven acts as an extension of Tawa’s awareness rather than a permanent transformation.

🕊️ FISO — A Major New Gameplay Direction

One of the most important ongoing developments revolves around FISO, the companion bird who helps Tawa.

Rather than remaining a purely narrative companion, FISO is evolving into a core gameplay feature.

The current exploration includes:

  • FISO carrying Tawa — or her voice — through aerial sequences,

  • dedicated flying gameplay moments,

  • dynamic airborne challenges such as dodging Pteranodon attacks.

This introduces a strong rhythm change: shifting from grounded stealth and survival gameplay to fast, instinctive aerial movement.

In the long term, FISO could become an active exploration partner capable of:

  • transporting objects,

  • enabling new environmental interactions,

  • supporting levels specifically designed around flight mechanics.

This system represents a significant expansion of how players experience the world vertically.

🪨 Rocky Forest Rework

The Rocky Forest is currently being reworked to:

  • increase environmental immersion,

  • enhance vertical traversal,

  • introduce light platforming elements.

More structural changes are planned.

🎵 Game Music Release

Following community requests, the game’s soundtrack will be released by the end of this week or next week.

🧠 Gameplay Experiments — Egg Stealing

I am also exploring gameplay involving egg stealing.

Tawa could physically carry objects in her mouth or paws, creating intentionally organic and slightly clumsy interactions.

Stealing eggs may grant temporary bonuses, such as:

  • speed boosts,

  • strength improvements,

  • or other stat enhancements.

This system is still experimental.

🌋❄️ Endgame Choice & Future Biomes

A major choice before the end of the game is being considered:

  • a volcanic level,

  • or snowy mountains.

Players would choose one path, leading to different endings depending on the selected biome.

Current progression plan:

  1. Savannah

  2. Tropical Forest

  3. Beach

  4. Cypress Forests

  5. Snow Mountains or Volcano (player choice)

  6. Final level

⚙️ Performance Improvements

Performance optimizations and gameplay refinements continue to improve overall fluidity and cohesion.

Thank you again for your support — it directly shapes the evolution of Tawa: Lost in Time.
