We're excited to announce that Update 1.3 is now live, and at a new lower price!

This is a major structural update for ChipWits. We've done significant work under the hood to modernize the game's backend and improve stability.

Here are the highlights:

One Leaderboard to Rule them All

We have migrated our leaderboard system to a unified global standard.

  • Merged Competition: We've made it so that both the Demo and Full Game operate on a combined leaderboard. This enables us to open ChipWit Challenges to everyone.

  • Offline Support: We now ship a snapshot of the leaderboards with the game. This means you can see where you stand (and view the "Target Scores") even if you have no Internet connection!

  • Solution Recording: Leaderboard entries now include an encrypted recording of your solution. This will allow us to verify high scores and, in the future, automatically generate videos of the community's best solutions to share online.

New Mission: "Set the Table"

We've introduced a new tile type: Surfaces!

  • Surfaces behave like walls (you can't walk through them), but you can place items on top of them and pick them up.

  • Try out this new mechanic in the new ChipWit Challenge mission, "Set the Table," available now through Feb 2, 2026.

Privacy & Safety

We’ve added a new Age Gate and updated our privacy settings to ensure ChipWits is fully compliant and safe for players under 13 years of age.

Full Patch Notes (v1.3)

New Features

  • New Gameplay: Added "Surface" tiles (tables) and associated assets.

  • New Challenge: Added "Set the Table" mission.

  • Tech Stack: Migrated leaderboard backend. This enables the unified Demo/Main game leaderboards and removes legacy dependencies.

  • Performance: Removed the Unity splash screen and optimized skybox textures to reduce VRAM usage and speed up scene changes.

  • UI: Puzzle selection categories now auto-refresh when new missions are downloaded.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

  • Connectivity: Improved resilience when losing Internet connection during play. Leaderboards and main missions now function more gracefully offline.

  • Performance: Fixed a bug where transitioning from the Title Screen to "Select a Mission" could cause a 20-30 second black screen delay.

  • UI: Fixed an issue where the Global Standings title would incorrectly display "Behind You!" instead of the actual level name.

  • Dialogs: Removed prompts asking players to "sign up for the full version" if they already own the full version.

  • Challenges: Fixed ordering of challenge missions and issues with downloading updates to existing challenges.

We're as committed as ever to continuing development of ChipWits. We hope you enjoy these updates! As always, please let us know what you think and report any new bugs you find.

Happy Coding!
