While most of the dev team is safely tucked away and still working hard in the bunker, a small strike team has successfully infiltrated the Moscone Center in San Francisco as part of the GDC Festival of Gaming 2026. Their mission: Show the world that the apocalypse isn't just coming, it’s personal!
In case you missed the massive digital flare, our friends at Google Cloud featured YOU vs Zombies in their GDC blog this week, and were hosting us on the show floor. They’re calling us a pioneer in "Living Games" and honestly, having their global signal boost has also been a massive boost for the whole team.
Our CEO, Susan Cummings, caught up with the press to explain why this isn't just another tech demo: "We didn't use Gemini AI to write the game; we taught it how to execute our specific vision." Google provides the technology and the megaphone, but the ritual remains strictly guided by our hand-crafted story bible and veteran DNA, and it's this combination that had people visiting the booth from all over the world.
The creators are starting to weigh in, and the feedback is pure chaos. A special shout out and thanks for this report from C Money at OnPoint 4 Gamers, who caught up with the team at the booth:
"It's like a Vampire Survivors type game, but you use AI to literally design your character... it gives you weapons and spells that match that character's vibe. It even makes the boss at the end based on your character. This is dope."
The reactions on the show floor have been... intense. We’ve watched people generate everything from "Cotton-Candy-Queens" to "Half Pickle Half Otter Monstrosities" and then immediately dive into a 5-minute survival run to see if their creation has what it takes to survive the horde.
The consensus? The timeline is officially broken, and you all are far more creative (and terrifying) than we anticipated.
