Update 78.1 Release Notes

Here are the release notes for Update 78.1, released on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026.

The maximum caster level for Magic Missile is now correctly set to level 20.
Enemy versions of Magic Missile, Chain Missile, Force Missiles, Scorching Ray, and Frost Lance now scale correctly when they damage players.
Certain spells were using damage progressions against players that were higher than they should be. This has been fixed.
- Chaos Hammer (if you are Lawful)
- Unholy Blight (if you are Good)
- Order's Wraith (if you are Chaotic)
- Produce Flame
- Great Shout
- Shout
- SunBurst (especially if you are Undead)
Fixed graphical artifacts in No Refunds related to stencil shadows.
Ruinous Schemes does not let warlocks block quest progression.
Locked Away Part 2 does not let warlocks block quest progression.
A Cry For Help no longer blocks quest progression if both levers are pulled simultaneously.
Wrath of the Flame succubus is less of a public nuisance (lost her invincibility).

The Past Life Icon has been corrected.
Fixed the cooldown being reversed between Salt Ray and Soundburst stolen spells.
Fixed an issue where the DC for the stolen spell Soundburst was not properly calculating based off of your Disable Device.
Extra Hand now correctly reduces Metamagic costs for all spells, rather than only affecting spells in the Arcane Trickster's spell book.
Sound VFX have been added to several of the Mage Hand animations.
Fixed Disable Construct being mislabled in the Mechanic tree.
The passive Dodge bonus for Slippery Magic now works.
Arcane Ambush now works with snow ball swarm.
Core 6 now grants its Imbue Dice correctly.

The Damage Reduction of certain monsters in Time Flies has been reduced on heroic difficutlies.
Aussircaex now has a more dragon-worthy maximum hit point score.
The mind flayer in the level 1 version of the quest now has a cold that prevents him from using most of his mind flayer crowd control abilities.
