This is the commander speaking!

Welcome to July and August devlog for Mini Tank Mayhem. We meet again for the seventh time sharing updates for Mini Tank Mayhem. In this devlog, our team has been working on revamping the aliens and adding more spices to the cards.

Don’t forget to always check out our videos and posts on Facebook, Instagram , and Twitter. Now let's get those tanks moving!

New Alien Has Appeared

One of the things we’ve been focusing on in Mini Tank Mayhem is making sure enemies are easy to read and feel unique so they don’t end up looking too similar to one another. In this update, we’ve given the new alien enemies a visual overhaul. Heavy units now look bulky and armored, making them stand out as tanky threats. Flying enemies are also easy to spot, with their wings clearly shown as they soar straight toward your base.

One of our inspirations for the bulky alien design comes from deep-sea fish. Their sharp fins, unusual head shapes, and sometimes a dangerous trait can be intimidating. Our concept artist aimed for a look that is both cute but also dangerous.

We’ve also added unique variants for alien enemies. That means a single enemy type may appear in basic form, but as you go further through the stage, a new variant will spawned and tougher to counter. The more unique the variants, the harder they are to take down so keep you deck sharp!

Aura For an Eye

Most deckbuilder game use a card rarity system, often shown through different card frames or visual effects in order to make  higher-rarity cards stand out. In Mini Tank Mayhem, we realized there wasn’t a satisfying way to feel the impact of using powerful cards either during preparation phase or in the middle of combat. To fix that, we decided to add aura effect to the cards. Now, powerful cards can look different than others, especially with different rarity.

Here’s how the aura works, if your card rarity is common then there is no aura. If it is a rare card then there will be a hint of distinctive purple aura around the card edges. This also followed with epic card where the effect is more jarring with fiery yellow effect around the edges.

These effects provide instant visual feedback, helping players quickly spot important cards during preparation phase or combat phase.

What do you think about the enemy designs and the new look of our card? don’t forget to connect with us on social media. We’re building this game with you, and your feedback makes all the difference.
