We're very happy to confirm that today's update for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection includes what has been far and away your most-requested feature. That's right – it's time for Krossplay!
But that's not all. Read on for the full scoop on today's update:
Krossplay
Krossplay is the Mortal Kombat series' term for cross-platform online gameplay. When you're in the mood to test your skills online against your best friends and favorite foes, you can now match up against opponents from any platform – PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, PC – no matter which platform you're playing on!
Krossplay is supported in both Quick Play and Online Arcade modes. In Online Arcade, all players can join a hosted room, regardless of which hardware they're using. The room code system implemented in the previous update makes this easy – just share your unique code with the folks you'd like to play with.
To enable Krossplay, simply proceed to the game's ONLINE OPTIONS and turn on the option. It is OFF by default.
2-on-2 Kombat Online
Four games in the Kollection support 2-on-2 matches, where one player can use a team of two fighters against an opponent doing the same. These modes were previously only offered for offline play (officially, anyway, though we were impressed with the creative workarounds some players figured out), but we're happy to confirm that 2-on-2 online kombat is now officially supported for online in Ultimate MK3 (Arcade), Ultimate MK3 (SNES), Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PS1), and Mortal Kombat 4 (Arcade).
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is now available if your hardware and monitor support it.
When your PC's VRR option is set to off (the default setting), the games are rendered at their native frame rate, but the monitor or TV being used ultimately dictates the frame rate players see, which is usually 60 Hz.
When your PC's VRR option is turned on, we can sync the monitor to the non-standard frame rates that were used on the original arcade games, which was usually around 53 Hz.
The result is a more accurate presentation that is preferred by some players. When VRR is turned on, you may also perceive an improvement in input latency. If you're using hardware that supports VRR, toggle it on and try it out!

Bug Fixes
We fixed the connection strength indicator for online games, stopped certain Kombat Kard replays from disappearing, and restored some missing localized text. If you spotted any of those issues, they should be fixed now; if you didn't experience them before, you still won't!
The Future of MKLK
While Krossplay, 2v2 Online, and VRR are the final three major features that we currently plan to add to Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, we will of course continue to identify bug fixes and improvements, so please keep in touch via our Discord. Patch Notes
Krossplay now enables players across all platforms to play online with other MK fans. PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC gamers can now meet and play in the same online lobbies or Quick Play sessions. (Note: Due to technical limitations, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is not available for online Krossplay matches when playing on original Switch consoles.)
The 2-on-2 modes featured in Ultimate MK3 (Arcade), Ultimate MK3 (SNES), Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PS1) and Mortal Kombat 4 (Arcade) are now available for online play. These modes are designated with the words "2 on 2" when they are played in online rooms.
In all supported games, players can select their level before an online match.
Variable refresh rates (VRR) is now available on all supported platforms.
Fixed an issue where the minimum connection strength option for rooms was not always working properly.
Fixed an issue with Kombat Kard where replays could be accidently erased if unfavorited.
Updated localization for various languages.
Added various bug fixes and small improvements.
