Lambda Fortress Devlog #4: Getting It Together

Video version of this Blog Post:

Hey everyone! We're back once again to show you what we've been working on, let's get right into it.

New UI Improvements

Since our last devlog, we’ve added further improvements to the UI across the game, These being:

A New Scoreboard

A New Server Browser

A New Loading Screen

& Easy color pickers for crosshairs and pings

Speaking of which, we’ve also added a proper Pinging system into the game.

Pings

Pinging stuff will send a message in chat and also show players if you’re looking at a friend or foe.

Development Parity

Ever since the TF2 SDK released about a year ago, we’ve had to redo various features we had created back in the Pre-SDK version. We’re happy to report that we’ve reimplemented most of these features back, such as:

  • Flashlight HUD element

  • Change-class time at round start and checkpoints

  • EP1 Darkness mode support for entities like Sentries

NPC Improvements

We’ve made some improvements to the NPCs in the game. They now have dynamic health alongside better lag compensation.

Additionally Miniboss NPCs now have a special boss health bar above them, similar to bosses in TF2.

Health Changes

Along with NPC health changes, we’ve been making some changes to player healing as well. To better help players share health with their team, Wall chargers will now heal up to 5% of the player’s health with every heal tick. Citadel Chargers heal up to 10%. Both Health and Suit chargers refill the same amount of health, but the suit chargers are able to give a non-decaying overheal to you, essentially acting as our version of armor in this game.

Once it’s been reached, checkpoints will also now resupply players standing within a medium radius of it, giving them full health and flashlight charge.

Door Griefing Prevention

Did you ever play LF:E back in the day and have to deal with those annoying griefers who would block a doorway or spam the USE key to keep a door shut? That should be a thing of the past, as we’ve implemented griefing prevention for these types of scenarios.

Multi-Seat Vehicles

In our last devlog, we mentioned that multi-seat vehicles were in development, well now they’re here. You can ride alongside a friend as they drive and mow down enemies.

Check it out!

And that’ll wrap it up for this new progress update. There won't be any new QnA questions this time, but we’re gonna start keeping an FAQ listed in our Steam Discussions, alongside the one in our Discord Server.

As always, make sure to wishlist and follow the game on Steam if you haven’t already.

Thank you for your continued support, See you soon!
