Transmission from RustForge 🎙️

"Artists of the Wastes, the RustForge has been reinforced! v5.2.0.1 introduces the Mouse Movement Sentinel, an input guardian that monitors your hardware to ensure a stray bump of the mouse never ruins a masterpiece again. I have also gutted the old input systems, by moving to SendInput and Unicode scan-codes, I’ve eliminated the micro-stutters that haunted high-speed sessions. Whether you are browsing the Workshop or pushing the Precision Engine to its absolute floor, RustForge is now faster, safer, and smarter. Glory to the Canvas!"

Patch Highlights

  • Mouse Movement Sentinel: New free "Panic Pause" system that detects physical mouse movement and instantly saves your progress to memory via pushing a manual pause operation. This pause data is lost when closing, or restarting RustForge just as it is with the normal pause hotkey feature. Premium users can save, and load AutoSaves and Sessions at any time.

  • Input Overhaul: Migrated to SendInput (WScan/Unicode) to eliminate micro-stutters and improve compatibility.

  • Redmean Color Matching: A brand new, more accurate color-matching algorithm for superior palette reproduction.

  • Workshop Intelligence: Enhanced the Workshop Library with Titles and Descriptions for easier navigation.

  • The Precision Floor: Tightened the Precision Engine logic to allow for even faster speeds without sacrificing small-line integrity.

Balancing & Logic

The Precision Engine

  • Spin-Wait Calibration: Adjusted the high-precision loop for the final "push," ensuring more consistent timing on modern CPUs.

  • The Safety Floor: Implemented a hard 5ms floor for "Safe Mode" and holdTime on fine details.

  • Why this matters: This ensures that even at "Fastest" speeds, the engine automatically catches its breath during 1px specks and tiny lines, preventing the game from dropping inputs.

Color Science

  • Redmean Algorithm: Added as a new optional matching mode.

  • The Intent: While standard RGB math is fast, Redmean accounts for how the human eye perceives different color frequencies (especially reds and blues), leading to more "natural" looking portraits and landscapes.

Fixes & UI Polishes

The Mouse Movement Sentinel (NEW FREE FEATURE!)

  • How it works: If the system detects you moving your mouse manually while the bot is painting, it triggers an instant Panic Pause.

  • Data Integrity: Your current X/Y coordinates and color are stored in active memory. You can undo the accidental line in-game and hit your Start Hotkey to resume exactly where you left off.

  • Note: This is a session-based safety feature. Unlike the Premium AutoSave, this data is not written and saved and will be cleared if the app is closed.

Input & Stability

  • Micro-Stutter Fix: By replacing the old Windows based input class with a custom SendInput class, I've bypassed the Windows message queue bottlenecks that caused alot of the stuttering issues.

  • Workshop Pathing Fix: Resolved a bug where images loaded from the Workshop Library would fail to save their path during an AutoSave/Session save trigger.

UI/UX Updates

  • Modernized Toasts: All "Paused," "Stopped," and notification messages now utilize the updated RustForge UI styling.

  • Support Menu: Added "Open Settings File..." to the Support menu, instantly opening the local folder for easier troubleshooting and config sharing.

  • Workshop Clarity: The Workshop Library Panel now displays the full Item Title and Description for your subscriptions.

📈 Known Issues

  • I am currently testing the Redmean algorithm's performance impact on extremely large 4K images, users on older hardware may notice a slight delay during the initial "Image Processing" phase.
