Hey everyone!
The demo is out! You can play it here:
The demo is playable with up to 4 players online and/or locally in split-screen.
Time trial mode and the tutorial are playable solo.
You can try out 3 tracks and drive on 4 surfaces: asphalt, concrete, ice, and sand.
The demo includes plenty of obstacles to place, game modifiers to use, and customization items to equip.
Save data and unlocked items are kept for the full game (and linked achievements will also be unlocked).
This is my first game! I've been working on Slip & Skid solo for about two and a half years.
My brother Zacxophone helped me with the 3D models (he's the one who made the car!). We're kind of in a permanent brainstorming session.
The music is composed by Paul Célérier. The complete soundtrack is available on YouTube (if you want to spoil the tracks for mud, dirt, and magma).
The idea of making this game has been in my head for over a decade now, but I didn't feel capable of making it a complete and fun game (especially releasing it).
My goal is to make something similar to the games I used to play with my older brothers when I was a kid (I used to get destroyed).
The content of the full game will likely change a bit before release (based on your feedback on the demo).
In the demo, 3 tracks are available.
In the full game, there are 16, and I will add more after release.
By modifying the rules, you can add game modifiers right from the start. This allows you to swap the start and finish lines, and/or change the road surface. It adds a lot of variety!
In time trial mode, there is a ghost to beat on each track, with an accessory to unlock by beating it.
In the demo, there are 4 (asphalt, concrete, ice, and sand).
In the full game, there are 7 (asphalt, concrete, ice, sand + dirt, mud, and magma).
The mud is sticky and makes turning difficult.
The magma makes you go faster, but staying in it for 3 seconds makes the car explode (too bad).
The dirt makes you skid like crazy.
There are 6 environments, depending on the track surfaces (which change during the game as you swap the surfaces of the road tiles).
There are 21 in the demo.
There are 40 in the full game.
Some examples that are not in the demo:
There are 9 in the demo.
There are 26 in the full game.
Some examples that are not in the demo:
The demo includes 15 accessories, 9 patterns, and 2 paints.
The full game includes 50 accessories, 53 patterns, and 4 paints.
Here are some examples of accessories not included in the demo (except for a few):
A huge thank you to the testers, to everyone who contributed in any way, and for the support!
I'm looking forward to seeing the crazy things you'll do and come up with.
Feel free to give me feedback on the Discord server and/or with the form (both are in the main menu of the demo).
