Hello everyone!
It’s been a joy for us to see all the discourse around Escape from Ever After, especially as players share strategies, tips, and interesting combos.
After collecting feedback, watching playthroughs, and assessing the gameplay loop (with a lot more data than we had before release), one thing has become clear: Restoration, after collecting the two Synergy Charms available in the game, is simply too overpowered. It’s being used as an obvious crutch, rather than as a strategic choice with potential downsides. Furthermore, its strength devalues the other Synergy moves.
So, we’re overhauling how the Synergy Charms work. Previously, they were ambient items that stayed in the menu and automatically boosted the “Restoration” ability. Now, Synergy Charms must be equipped as trinkets on specific characters. Once equipped, that character will have access to “Restoration+,” which is a boosted version of “Restoration” and will cost 1 more SP (and yes, you can stack the charms to access an even stronger version).
We know it’s not always popular when the devs come in and “nerf” a well–known meta, but in this case, we feel it’s a necessary change, as using Restoration was always meant to be more of a tricky decision rather than a rinse and repeat strategy. To compensate for this change, this update will also make healing items a bit cheaper in the shops, to encourage more strategic use of items.
Balance:
Items are overall cheaper, certain enemies spawn more coins
Synergy Charms now act as trinkets, and must be equipped on a character to access the boosted “Restoration” ability
Change poison calculations on certain attacks
Adjust SP calculations on certain attacks
“Encourage” now has a cap in non-boss encounters (can encourage no more than 5 times per battle)
Improvements:
Enemy spawns reset in Ch2 when going between the Chapel and the Inner Sanctum
Show total decor count in computer menu for easier collectible hunting
Can now use the D-pad with Patches’ attacks
German Localization is available
Bugfixes:
Fix spot in Ch4 where you can fall through the map after falling into water in a specific spot
Attempt to fix rare softlock when initiating battle with a buckler throw
Fix decor painting clipping behind walls
Thanks everyone for the continued support and feedback!
