Hello everyone! I've been reading a bit the reviews and the comments I got here and there, and I feel like I need to discuss some things openely to avoid confusion. Something I hear a lot is that the game content is little and that the price is steep. Let me be clear about that: I agree.
But you have to understand where I'm coming from and where we're headed as a community. Emily, unlike my first game Zoe, is knowing a much higher success and is taking advantage of a much higher hype. This is mostly thanks to Zoe which acted as a proof of work, Zoe's community have been giving a much better start to Emily, putting the game in popular titles, and getting it known by many. The initial reason about why I've been releasing this game this early in early access is simply because of the demand. A lot of players from Zoe have been actively following Emily and have been asking me for a way to get access to the game in a premium way, to be able to follow the development and to support it financially, without having to pay monthly on the Patreon. Before Emily, and therefore during Zoe, I had a day job and all of this was a side project. For a few months now, I've finally been able to make a living from the project, and all of this is thanks to Patreon and Steam together. I do no regret putting the game this early in Early Access, because it gives me a financially safe situation and will allow me to fulfill the game without having to deal with a day job and while being able to fully focus on the game.
For that, I thank you all. But I also understand that for all of you who are discovering the game and are being suprised by the lack of content, this is a let down. Unfortunately, words won't be enough to reassure you, and only time will prove my good will to make this game worth the price tag. I wasn't ready for the onboarding of a new community with normal expectations about what the game should contains right from the beginning, and for that, I apologize. Zoe had about the same content when she was first released on Steam, but the initial sales were lower and much more focused on players who already knew me, so I hadn't met this problem at the time. I have no idea how to deal with this new duality within the community, and I can only ask you for patience. Know that I'll keep working to make it happen and to make most, if not all, happy with Emily. Next month a new update will come with a lot of new things, and hopefuly within a few months, the content will be much closer from what you would expect from an early access. Until then, please keep the feedback coming! I'm not answering everything, but I am reading and taking all into consideration to see how it can fit (or not) in Emily's roadmap. Stay safe,
