Happy Good Friday folks! Hope everyone who celebrates has some lovely plans for this Easter weekend! And if you don't, hope you've got a great weekend planned anyway!
This week on Rune Records, we asked the dev: Tell us about some funny bugs in the game!
Because of how Rhell’s systems have so much complexity and weird interactions, it meant that there were A LOT of very very specific odd bugs during development.
A very funny early game bug was that with specific combinations with the area spell, duplicate, and destroy, you could very quickly create over 100 dummies and then overload the game. This was due to an oversight with the dummy spawning which meant that you could create dummies faster than they got removed by the system.
Then, another glitch I found really funny was that if Rhell stood on an object while its size was being changed, she would sometimes shrink to microscopic sizes! Usually, when having Rhell’s size changed, I put a limit on how small she can get (0.5x Rhell's original height) because going any smaller would make Rhell too hard to control. And additionally, when Rhell is standing on top of an object that is changing its size, she won't be influenced by that object's change in size. BUT in this glitch, there was a very specific setup where you could have Rhell land on objects that were changing size and then have her size change with a trigger spell, which somehow bypassed this safety threshold and let you play as TINY MICROSCOPIC RHELL.
And by far, the weirdest, strangest, most obscure bug! If you stand on specifically THIS umbrella, and only this umbrella, then had the umbrella rewind through time, it would somehow cause Rhell to get duplicated, flung halfway across the map, and land in the ocean!
I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how this bug even functioned or why it happened. In fact, the only reason I found this bug - since Rhell's copy was flung so far away that I would rarely notice it happened - was that Rhell would copy the animation her duplicate was playing. Meaning she would sometimes be shown swimming on the umbrella.

I genuinely love seeing silly bugs in games. Maybe we need another game that's just bugs and broken stuff.
Animach1ne on YouTube shared their any% speedrun and it just reminds us how impressive this community is. Be sure to check their playthrough out and give them some hype!
Also just going to drop this piece of art here from a player in our Discord
And that's a wrap people! Have a great weekend <3
