A Shoe? In a Game About Tariffs? Let Me Explain the Madness!

Hey everyone!

If you've looked looked at the key art for my game, you might have noticed something... unusual. Our eccentric president is holding a 👞shoe👞. And not just any shoe — he's holding it like he's about to make a point. A very, very loud point.

This isn't just a random prop! It's a deep-cut historical reference that perfectly captures the game's spirit of political absurdity.

The "We Will Bury You" Incident (aka "Kuzka's Mother")

Back in 1960, during a heated speech at the United Nations, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev became so agitated that he famously took off his shoe, banged it on the podium, and shouted a Russian phrase now idiomatically translated as "We will bury you!"

The actual phrase, "We'll show you Kuzka's mother!", is a classic Russian folk threat meaning something like "We'll show you what's what!" or "You're in for a world of hurt!". The whole scene became an iconic symbol of chaotic, unpredictable, and theatrical political power.

What's This Got to Do With "T*RIFF U!!"?

In my game, you play as a president who uses tariffs (economic weapons) as his primary tool for... everything. It's his answer to every problem, no matter how complex. The shoe is a visual metaphor for this approach. It's my way of saying: This president doesn't negotiate. He bangs his shoe on the table.

It’s that same spirit of using a wildly disproportionate, theatrical, and slightly unhinged gesture to make a point. In this case, the point is imposing another tariff.

So, the next time you see that shoe, remember: it's not just a fashion statement. It's a declaration of total economic war, served with a side of historical madness.

Stay crazy,
