It’s been about a week since we revealed Serious Sam: Shatterverse, and we're super happy to see the Serious Sam community alive and kicking again! Seeing all the reactions, discussions, memes, and hype, along with the critique and skepticism, has meant a lot to us.
We’ve been keeping a close eye on everything you’ve been saying, and a few questions keep coming up again and again. So, instead of replying in a hundred different places multiple times, we figured it’d be easier to just sit down and answer them properly.

Serious Sam: Shatterverse respects the series’ rich legacy and preserves its essence, while presenting it in a fresh way. It never compromises on certain elements like classic Sam first-person shooter action, overwhelming hordes of enemies, endless bullets, plenty of strafing and backpedalling, witty one-liners, and straightforward, exhilarating fun.
We thought the roguelite genre was a natural fit for the next Serious Sam game, since many players in our community enjoy replaying missions to achieve higher scores or uncover every secret.
Each full run lasts about 45 minutes and consists of three distinct biomes, each ending with its own boss battle. When you unlock new weapons, they become available in future runs, although your inventory is reset at the start of each run.
Yes. Shatterverse can absolutely be enjoyed solo. If you prefer facing the hordes alone, you’ll get the full experience. Just one Sam, his weapons, and every beast Mental throws his way.
That said, bringing in more Sams turns the chaos all the way up and makes the experience more chaotic and explosive if that's your thing, too.
The progression carries over. Your run rewards will be available to you even after you leave multiplayer, and you'll be able to use them to unlock and upgrade additional items, intels, weapons, and characters.
There is a story behind Serious Sam: Shatterverse. While gameplay takes center stage, players who like new lore and advancing the story of the Samverse will find what they are looking for.

No. Serious Sam is Croteam's creation, and the series will always be a part of their DNA. This is part of growing Serious Sam, not moving on from it.

The game is a peer-to-peer game and not server-based, as we wanted it to still be around in 5, 10, 15 years, so we could look back fondly on the memories made while developing the game.
Serious Sam: Shatterverse is a premium one-time-purchase. None of the in-game content is hidden behind microtransactions, battle passes, season passes, or anything of the sort.
