We’ve been hard at work over the past month, and we’re super hyped to finally share what we’ve been cooking up!
This update is packed with new tools, fresh sounds, and some quality-of-life improvements to make your 10-second jam sessions even smoother.
Oh, and one more thing… we’re running a playtest of these new features in our Discord!

🎛️ Track Creation Upgrades
In our last dev diary, we said it loud and proud: making music is the heart of Ten Second Mixtape.
So, we’ve doubled down on improving the tools that help you build bangers in seconds.
This isn’t the final version of the editor, but trust us — it’s a huge leap forward.
✨ What’s new:
Click to add/remove notes → Left-click to add notes to your track!
Right-click or double-click a note to remove it.
Drag to resize → Grab the edges of a note to adjust its length, or drag the middle to move it wherever you want — even between rows.
Better snapping → Notes now snap more cleanly to the beat making it wayyy easier to create smooth grooves. How did we live without this before?
Play / Stop button → Stop the play head anytime and tweak your mix at your own pace.
Record toggle → Want to jam without committing? Turn recording off and freestyle freely. 🎹
Quality of Life Improvements
Little tweaks, big vibes.
Track rows light up when you play notes — just a nice lil thing for visibility.
Notes now play instantly when the playhead hits them. No more waiting for loops to restart.
🎹 New Sounds & Instruments!
Our original build had 17 sounds… but honestly, some were kinda meh.
So we fixed them and then went wild adding a ton of new instruments.
We’re talking double the sounds (and then some) — and yes, they slap. 🔥

🌐 Website Sneak Peek
Big news: we’re building a website for Ten Second Mixtape!
Why? So you can share your creations online and hear what the community is making. Right now, it’s focused on uploading your tracks, but we’ve got a lot more planned!
For now though If you participate in out playtest you will be able to get a link to songs you create and share the webpage with anyone :) You can even download the song!

We’ve been keeping a close eye on your ideas in Discord — and we’ve seen some amazing ones already.
We can’t spill the beans on everything yet, but know this:
some of the most-requested features are already on our roadmap.
So keep the suggestions coming, and stay tuned for a future update where we reveal more of what’s next. 👀
