The open playtest continues, and Space Scum is entering a colder, more dangerous phase, with weather that makes Britain feel like a tropical paradise.
A new update is now live, expanding the game with fresh locations, early system foundations, and meaningful improvements across combat, progression, and UI. Whether you’re returning or playing for the first time, now’s the perfect moment to jump in.
❄️ What’s Waiting for You
Multiplanetary - head to the space port and see what’s out there, it’ll probably be an:
Ice Planet - A hostile ice planet with new ice creatures, ice people, and lots of ice.
Climate System - Climate specific armour, items and species traits. Lizardmen don’t like the ice. Don’t go out on the ice in your t-shirt. Don’t wear a fur-coat in the desert. This should all be common sense, really.
Faction System - The first steps toward a full Faction system. Encounter slave traders, mega corporations, weird religious cults. The universe is a wonderful place.
Gang customisation - name your gang, give it a fancy gang sign. Still WiP - more personalisation in the pipeline.
Telegraphed attacks - Our first telegraphed attack (check out the bilehusks (beetles)). Many more attack variations to come.

Improved UI readability and icons
Refined combat and weapon mechanics
Numerous quality-of-life improvements
