As another year comes to an end, it is time to take a closer look at the current state of Catechesis. In this new devlog, we share an in-depth update on the project’s progress as development continues to move steadily toward its final stages.
We also want to celebrate the creativity of the Yuppie Psycho community with the recent mod contest, highlighting the winning entries for everyone to enjoy. On top of that, we are thrilled to present a brand-new mod created by a member of our own team. In this experience, players step back into Brian’s shoes to uncover an unexplored mystery behind the closure of Floor Six, revealing hidden secrets of Sintracorp’s past. This mod offers a fresh, story-driven adventure that fans of Yuppie Psycho won’t want to miss.
Combat has been improved to make every fight clearer, more responsive, and more fun. New UI elements, like ammunition and enemy health bars, help players see what is happening and plan their actions. Weapons now have new animations, screen effects, and visual cues that make each hit feel stronger. The interface is now more precise and smooth, and we are working on a quick-access weapon menu, either as a wheel or a carousel, to make changing weapons faster and easier. What do you think would work best for the weapon menu, and how could we make combat feel even more satisfying for you?
The story also introduces important characters from Geneva Pine Hospital, including Dr. Mandeo and Nurse Deb. Dr. Mandeo is a skilled doctor who watches over Daniel and his grandfather, taking care of their health and well-being. Nurse Deb is kind and positive, but she also has hidden strength that will help at crucial moments. Both characters bring new depth to the hospital, which now has patients, a large staff, a lab, and a morgue. These characters will guide and challenge Daniel as he faces the dangers ahead.
Glossar is a new and dangerous enemy that will test players’ skills. Its long tongue can reach from a distance, and it can summon smaller monsters to attack alongside it. Strong and tough, Glossar will make players think carefully about how to use both melee and ranged attacks to survive.
