Here are the release notes for Update 77: Presents and Pain, released on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025.

Of Special Note:

A new free dungeon is available!

You hear a voice calling for help from the mists, then plunge into the frigid fog to investigate..."Body and Mind" is a new free quest that is level 8 on Heroic difficulty and level 36 on Legendary difficulty! This quest takes place in Lamordia, the location of our newest expansion The Chill of Ravenloft, but access to The Chill of Ravenloft is not required. Get started by going to the places where Ravenloft's mists are found: House Jorasco in Stormreach or Eveningstar in the Forgotten Realms. You will find new mist leading to the quest that will take you into the quest.

Festivult is now underway (starts Wednesday)!

Festivult has returned with updated cookies! During Festivult Copper, Silver, and Gold Festivult Coins appear in chests, and you can trade them with the Jester of Festivult for fun cookies! This year ten cookies are getting adjustments to provide new or different benefits! The Jester of Festivult has arrived to trade your coins! Coins will appear through January 6th, and the Jester will stick around to collect your coins through January 13th, 2026.

News and Notes:

Events:

• Symphony of the Fey:

  • Motes will now "ping" a player with a message when they spawn.

  • The "too high level" limit on harvesting Motes is now +6 in Epic level quests from base quest level (twice the +3 from Heroic difficulty). For example, Catacombs 3 and 23 now allows players of up to level 6 on Heroic difficulty and up to level 29 on Epic difficulty to harvest their Motes.

  • Issues have been corrected with some thrown weapons not properly getting their "Vow of Glory" designation.

  • Lord Arden now references the proper reward for the Lute of the Summer Flight.

  • The lute "spell" used to activate and harvest Motes no longer has a line of sight check, which could fail under certain conditions.

  • The Symphony of the Fey NPCs in Korthos have been moved to the other side of the square.

  • Mote spawn frequency has been increased. 

  • Motes are now less likely to spawn in objects.

  • Baronness Hilda Bitterspine will now award the proper Winter Court Fairy Wings when acquired for a second or further time. 

  • An issue has been corrected that could allow reincarnated characters to acquire their first Winter lute inappropriately.

  • An issue with Golden Mote completion has been corrected for characters who are of a lower level than the minimum lute requirement level, but who are in a quest at the correct level.

Items:

• Huge and Gargantuan Cookie Jars are now available in the DDO Store to hold your Festivult cookies!

• Weapon Finesse now gives its proper amount of Fortification bypass, and its description no longer falsely states that its bonus only applies to certain weapons.

• Scimitars now properly display as a light weapon in their tool tip.

• The following crossbows now properly apply Dexterity to damage when they qualify for it: 

  • Heroic, Epic, and Legendary Hellfire Crossbow

  • Heroic and Legendary Moonlight Slinger

  • Needle

  • Slaver's Hand Crossbow

  • Heroic and Legendary The Renovator.

• The following items now properly apply Strength or Dexterity to hit and damage when they qualify for it:

  • Agony, the Knife in the Dark

  • Alchemical Dagger

  • Ancient Vulkoorim Dagger (Heroic, Epic, Legendary)

  • Assassin's Kiss (Heroic, Epic)

  • Balizarde, Protector of the King

  • Bejeweled Letter Opener (Heroic, Epic, Legendary)

  • Blade of the High Priestess

  • Brigand's Cutlass (all levels)

  • Celestia, Brightest Star of Day

  • Coffin Nail

  • Cutthroat's Smallblade (all levels)

  • Dagger from veteran status 4 and 7

• Elyd Edge is now Strength, Dexterity, or Charisma to hit and damage on all four tiers (Corroded Rapier, Elyd Edge, Epic Elyd Edge, Legendary Elyd Edge).

Miscellaneous:

• Several typos in Rogue Mechanic tooltips have been corrected.

• Kensai's "Reed in the Wind" no longer applies Battle Guard to your enemies.

• Vistani Knife Fighter's Core 6 attack speed now properly applies to the kukri.

• An issue has been corrected that could cause enemies with thorn spells to do more damage than intended.

• The "claim one of everything" option in the Escape to Ravenloft: Utility Collection bundle now properly closes its dialog window when selected.
