Season's Greetings

‘Twas the week before New Years’, and here at Get Psyched,

We’re tweaking our game, and, to be clear… getting psyched.

Don’t be misled by the apparent ease of this festive but non-denominational couplet: writing poetry is actually kind of hard. Unlike making video games, which is famously easy.

So easy, in fact, that we’ve had time to hang out and play games in the dev server. Lately, we’ve been enjoying the pre-beta for this game called ‘Open Fortress’. That’s a perk of game development: when you make a fun game, you also get to play it.

Another cool perk is that, eventually, other people get to play, too. But we’ve got to do some more playtesting first. Some more polishing. And get a few surprises ready. You don’t want to cold-start an engine, right?

But, when the weather’s a little warmer… Well, you get what I’m driving at. See that? Extended the ‘cold engine’ simile.

Extending a simile is easy (unlike poetry), but extending our season’s greetings is even easier: after all, those feelings come from the heart (unlike a motor vehicle).

And that’s the real point of this blog post. Not to impress you with a charming, original, potentially award-winning holiday couplet, or even to strongly imply that you’ll be playing Open Fortress by summer, but to wish you a wonderful end to the year.

From all of us at Get Psyched,

Happy Holidays, and… Get Psyched!

Community27 Jul 2025Pulling into PortAs you know, we’ve been hard at work retro-fitting Open Fortress to newfangled ‘Steam Power’. We’re pleased to announce the game is now fully ported to the official TF2 SDK, meaning the new build of Open Fortress can be uploaded to the Steam storefront! And it will be. Soon. But not yet. Now that the titanic effort of getting Open Fortress SDK-compatible is over, we’re continuing production to…Community10 May 2025Full Steam AheadFor over twenty years, Steam has delivered high-quality entertainment to enthusiasts across America (and the world!) It’s like a highly-pressurized party: the spicy love-child of water and fire. In fact, the electricity powering your computer right now is basically made of Steam! Probably. Unless you live near a dam, like a hippie. Pop quiz: What else is basically made of Steam? Open Fortress.…
