New major update, "Blessings & Curses" is currently in closed beta testing. After a round of closed testing the update will be available for public beta testing soon.

The main goal of this update is to offer more variety and replayability between different runs.

Major Update Content

  • New Blessings Mechanic
  • New Curse upgrades
  • Enemy overhaul
  • Runes reworked
  • Character upgrades reworked
  • Overhaul of existing upgrades
  • New Characters

    Blessings

At certain early levels, players will be given a choice of 3 blessings to take. Blessings offer powerful and varied effects that range from powerful stat boosts to giving you a unique version of an upgrade. Blessings will give you reasons to adapt and try different builds according to the blessings you are given on each run.

    Curses

This is a reworked version of the old "tomes" that dropped from bosses. Now when you pick up chests, you'll be offered curses, that offer power with heavy penalties. There are different rarities of curses, with common curses offering simple stat tradeoffs to rare curses that completely alter how your character plays.

    Enemy overhaul

New enemies are being added to bring more interesting challenges!

Existing boss fights are also reworked, as well as new bosses are being added. Each boss now has unique minions that spawn alongside them for more interesting fights. Normal enemies will not spawn during boss fights anymore to prevent too much clutter.

    Runes reworked

One of the issues with the old rune system, is that the build you go for is often somewhat defined by the runes you pick before you start a run. This makes it very hard adapt your build on the fly during a run, which is one of the main goals of the new blessing mechanic. Runes have a reworked to be more generally useful. You will also no longer have to pick and choose as all purchased runes will be active in a run.

    Character Specializations

The old character specific upgrades have been reworked into character "specializations". Instead of getting character upgrades in random order from chests, you'll now be able to pick 1 of 3 "specializations" unique to each character (similar to the current gun evolution system). The specializations are designed to be more powerful and offer a choice of different ways to build your character. The goal of this is to remove frustrating randomness and offer more flexibility to adapt your build each run.

    Upgrade perk overhaul

Some of the existing upgrades, don't really contribute to interesting builds (like the magnetism upgrades) or are overpowered in almost every build (like the freeze upgrades). Many of these are either reworked, or replaced by new upgrades.

    New Characters!

But if you didn't see it in my last update post, here is a sneak peak of the 2 new characters:

    More to come!

There are more features and quality of life updates that will be added over the course of the beta. I'm really excited to share this new update with you guys.
