Hello everyone, this is the QUIET development team.
We've welcomed over 150,000 players worldwide to our Playtest following its launch on August 3rd. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has participated. Thanks to your incredible support and passion, we are working tirelessly to deliver an even more polished version of QUIET.
Our development team is carefully reviewing every single piece of feedback you share through Discord, Steam reviews, and surveys. Beyond fixing bugs, we are focused on enhancing both the comedic tone and the horror elements of the game.
In this first Developer Note, we would like to address some of the most frequently asked questions from your feedback.
==========
Q1. What does the gauge bar at the top of the screen mean?
A: The top bar is a gauge that goes up based on player 'noise'. It fills up from all sounds generated inside the mansion—including voice input via your microphone, footstep sounds from walking or running, and even the ducks' "Quack!" sounds.
Q2. Does the noise gauge ever go down?
A: Yes! The noise gauge goes down over time. However, the rate at which it drops varies depending on the difficulty you select at the start of the game.
Q3. Why do Grandma’s appearance and behavior keep changing?
A: Grandma’s 'Threat Level' rises as your noise gauge fills up. Higher threat levels cause her appearance and behavior patterns to shift. Once the accumulated noise gauge reaches Level 3, Grandma undergoes an even more grotesque transformation and becomes far more sensitive to sound.
Q4. Why does Grandma still catch me after I take cover in a hiding spot?
A: If you were within Grandma's line of sight right before entering the hiding spot, she will still detect you even if you hide inside. You must hide only when you are completely out of her line of sight to stay safe!
Q5. Why do I get caught by Grandma more easily and frequently as the game progresses?
A: This happens because both Grandma's vision and hearing improve as the noise gauge level starts to climb. While she’s more sensitive to sound than sight, at noise level 3 she’ll spot you instantly—even if you’re hiding under a bed with just a toe sticking out or you make the slightest noise, so be extra careful.
Q6. Will controllers (gamepads) be supported?
A: Absolutely! We are currently working on optimizing full controller support. For those looking forward to playing with a controller, we’re aiming to provide full compatibility as soon as possible.
