Speedway Survival is officially on Steam! Further updates will now also be posted on Steam as well! To refer to previous updates, please check the Itch.io devlogs. For the Steam release, I added a couple of changes based on the feedback I got from Games Y'all! Without further ado, here are the changes for version 1.4.2!
UI Update
The UI for the Game Over screen has been updated. Now, the retrying level button is at the top and being more accessible than restarting the game.
Monster Balancing
Monsters were balanced out a little. Thought it was weird to have a higher chance for the squirrel monster to drop the sundae than the other two monsters. Now, the item drop percentage of the eyeball monster and squirrel monster had swapped, making it easier to beat early levels and difficult to beat later levels. Speed has also changed for the squirrel monster! To make it worth the monster appearing in the final level, it can now be sometimes faster than Sola's maximum speed! Run away!!!
Pause Menu
A pause menu was finally added! It took some harder coding that I thought, considering that you have to basically freeze EVERYTHING once you press the pause button (ESC). Light time, movements, spawn time, everything! (Oh, but except for stopping animations..those will come in the future..oOo;;)
Flashlight 8 directions
One of the biggest feedback I have received in Games Y'all was that the controls were too snappy..so I added 8 directions for the flashlight! And while testing, man did it feel so better! I was so used to the controls I hadn't realized that it was challenging omo;; Now, you have a better chance of attacking while moving as you can attack 360 degrees!
