WHAT IS THE GAME STRUCTURE?
When first playing Desta: The Memories Between, you will have access to the Main Story, which can be played in a linear fashion to completion from the very beginning. As Desta is a roguelike, there is an expectation that you may fail at times, and will have to start again - carrying over all your upgraded abilities.
As you progress through the game, there are options on Rest Floors with Crystal Desta where you may be able to ‘skip ahead’ to the latest chapter. This is the best solution for those invested in the story. For those invested in the skill and tactical challenge, then playing the game in the more traditional roguelike route may be the best option. As developers interested in making approachable games, we wanted to provide an option for every type of tactics and roguelike player.
At ustwo games, we are huge believers in approachability and accessibility in games, so we have worked hard to create an extensive amount of accessibility gaming options for all types of players too.
WHAT ARE CHALLENGE MODE + NIGHTMARE MODE (POST-GAME CONTENT)?
Challenge Mode provides brand new standalone scenarios designed to test the most experienced of players in unique ways. Complete these challenges to unlock bonus team mates for Desta's main dream, as well as aid you as you dive deeper into Nightmare Mode.
Nightmare Mode provides the most tactical challenge yet - providing encounters to face and modified rules. Any HP lost in a previous memory carries over to the next encounter, so you will need to be careful to see if you can reach the end of the Nightmare.
